Kaplan-Paul Roy Pommier died on the morning of Friday, June 7 to enter the eternal gates of heaven. Paul, more commonly known as "Roy", was a simple, quiet, country man. He lived his life in the simplest form with a serving heart.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, June 12, 2024 at Vincent Funeral Home in Kaplan honoring his life. He will be laid to rest at Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Cemetery with Deacon William Vincent officiating the services.
Visiting hours will be observed at Vincent Funeral Home in Kaplan, 300 N. Eleazar Ave., on Tuesday, June 11, 2024 from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM with a rosary being prayed at 6:00 PM; Wednesday, June 12, 2024 from 8:00 AM until the services begin at 10:00 AM
Mr. Pommier was a member of the Kaplan Community and surrounding communities. He was actively involved in the Kaplan Fire Department and the Indian Bayou Volunteer Fire Department. He was not only an involved member and board member, but an active fire fighter and truck operator. His passion for firefighting and dedication to role was instilled in his children. Through his years of expressing his passion of our communities' need for and importance of dedicated firemen, his sons, too, found the desire to carry on the role. They both continue to leave the Pommier firefighting legacy through their own professional firefighting careers.
For much of his professional career, Mr. Pommier continued to serve our community by working as an automobile mechanic. With his mechanical knowledge, he was always an open book willing to offer his advice and understanding to fixing a broken vehicle or any piece of farm equipment. His mechanic career led to his love for automobiles. Frequently, he could be found looking at old cars, visiting car shows from time to time and even enjoyed talking about the progression of the makes and models of today's latest Chevy trucks. Ford, not so much.
As he lived to serve others, he also lived a very simple life. If he wasn't busy in his shop fixing a tractor or taking apart farm equipment, then you could always find him on the lawn mower with a cold Budweiser, at his stove making a rice and gravy, or on a boat fishing. He was an avid outdoorsman; a simple, quiet, quick-witted, country man and he will be dearly missed.
Mr. Pommier is survived by his loving children, Ande Pommier, Angie Pommier Hebert (Aaron), Robby Pommier (Ariana) and Jarrot Pommier and his grandchildren Bailey Pommier and Bennett Pommier, whom he was better known to as PawPaw and Pop.
He was preceded in death by his loving parents, Simonet & Noelia Pommier and his brothers, Percy Pommier, Joseph Howard Pommier, Luby Pommier, Loicey Pommier, & Wilson Pommier.
