Mrs. Ruth Eleazar Broussard, daughter of Jules J. Eleazar and Rosa Leblanc Eleazar, was born on January 13, 1928. She attended school in Kaplan, LA and attended college at South Louisiana Institute (SLI), now University of Louisiana at Lafayette, in Lafayette, LA.
She was united in holy matrimony to Ravis Adam Broussard of Kaplan, LA in June of 1947. This union was blessed with two children. Ravis preceded her in death on December 5, 2014.
Ruth was a lover of the arts - taking piano lessons as a child and singing in the church choir. She lovingly passed that appreciation down to her family and supported their pursuit of creativity of all kinds. Ruth was the longtime librarian of the Kaplan Library. As a result of her helpful nature and pleasant personality, she was known by many, and her influence will forever be felt by all who knew her. Her Christian life of faith was unwavering as she served as a parishioner and with Ravis as a Eucharistic Minister of Holy Rosary Catholic Church. She quietly departed this life at home on Sunday, October 5, 2025, at the age of 97.
A Mass of Christian Burial officiated by Reverend Mikel Polson will be held at 10:00 AM, Friday, October 10, 2025, at Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Church. She will be laid to rest at Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Lucas Broussard, Blaise Broussard, André Dugal, Cody Roy, Scott Roy, and Eric Roy. Honorary pallbearer will be Mark Broussard.
Family, friends, and those who wish to pay their respects are invited to attend a visitation at Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Church on Friday from 9:00 AM until 10:00 AM with a rosary being prayed at 9:30 AM.
Her long, beautiful life will forever be cherished in the lives of her children, Ruth Ann and Mark Broussard (Elizabeth), as well as her grandchildren, Scott Roy (Angela), and Eric Roy (Alyssa), Andre' Dugal (Maggie), Lucas Broussard (Anne), Claire Mayeaux (Regan), Lori Broussard, and Blaise Broussard, seven great grandchildren, and two great, great grandchildren.
Rest in peace, beloved child of God!
