With heavy hearts, we celebrate the life of Paul S. Roberson, who passed away peacefully on February 23, 2025, at the age of 69. Born on July 16, 1955, in Elizabeth City, North Carolina, Paul lived a life filled with love, laughter, and an infectious spirit. He left us in
Virginia Beach, Virginia, surrounded by the warmth of his family, and we are forever grateful for the time we shared with him.
Paul was a true "Paul" of all Trades. From his early days as a metal fitter and pipe fitter to taking on every challenge that life sent his way, he brought an unmatched energy, passion, and skill to whatever he did. His ability to learn and adapt was nothing short of amazing, and he worked tirelessly, with a smile, to help others and build a legacy that will live on in the hearts of everyone who knew him.
Beyond his work, Paul's interests were just as vast and full of life. As an avid NASCAR fan, Paul reveled in the thrill of the race, the roar of the engines, and the excitement of competition. His loyalty to the Washington Redskins was legendary-he cheered for them with the passion of a true fan, whether they were winning or losing. Paul's love for his German Shepherds, who brought him so much joy over the years, was a reflection of his kind heart and deep appreciation for companionship.
But above all, Paul was a devoted family man. He was an incredible husband to his beloved wife, Debbie, and a compassionate father to his cherished step-children Trish and Joe. His love for them was unwavering, and his presence in their lives was a constant source of joy and stability. Paul is also survived by his mother Nonie Lane, brother John (Wendy) Roberson, cousins, nieces, his 4 grandchildren, and a host of dear friends, all of whom will forever carry his memory with them. His humor, generosity, and knack for making everyone feel special will never be forgotten.
Paul is preceded in death by his father E. Julian Roberson, who no doubt greeted him with open arms, welcoming him home. Though we miss him deeply, we know his legacy of love, kindness, and laughter lives on in all of us. His spirit will forever remain in the moments he shared with those who were fortunate enough to know him.
A celebration of Paul's remarkable life will be held at Altmeyer Funeral Home - Southside Chapel on March 7, 2025, at 5 PM with refreshments to follow. All those who had the privilege of knowing Paul are warmly invited to join his family in honoring the joy, laughter, and love he shared with so many. In true Paul fashion, we encourage you to wear your favorite NFL shirt or jersey, though this is entirely optional. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests greenery, such as plants and trees, or donations to Virginia Shepherd Rescue Inc. in Paul's memory.
As we celebrate Paul's life, we are reminded of the joy he brought to every room he entered. His love for his family, his passion for his interests, and his laughter-filled spirit will continue to inspire us every day. Rest in peace, Paul. You will always be with us in the stories we tell, the lessons we've learned from you, and the smiles we continue to share in your honor.
