Paul Schneider Obituary

Paul Andrew Thomas Schneider, 86, formerly of Hillsdale, MI, passed away on September 25, 2025, while resting comfortably after a lengthy illness. He was born on July 23, 1939, in Detroit MI, to parents Carl and Beatrice Schneider, both deceased. Paul was the youngest of four siblings: Marilyn Fry, deceased; Carl Schneider, deceased, and Warren Schneider of Hillsdale Michigan.

Paul attended North Adams School from fourth grade until his senior year and graduated from Hillsdale High School.

Paul married Marilyn Mayo on May 18, 1957. She preceded him in death in July of 1990. He later married Rosemarie Martin on June 5, 1993. She preceded him in death in April of 2024. He leaves behind a son, Thomas (Marilyn) Schneider, of Litchfield MI and daughter, Laurie (Bryan) Wiseman, of Battle Creek MI. His extended family: Annmarie Martin of Beverly MA, deceased; John (Christine) Martin of Newport News VA; William (Cheryl) of Rockford MI; Teresa Williams of Austin TX; and Matt (Rebecca) Martin of Columbus OH. Paul was blessed with 16 Grandchildren and 11 Great Grandchildren.

Paul worked at Simpson Manufacturing, in Litchfield MI, for 42 years, retiring as a tooling specialist in 2001. After retirement, he continued to diligently volunteer for many causes and organizations in the area: Salvation Army, Hillsdale Hospital, Meals on Wheels, Democratic Party, and even highway clean-up projects. He lived by the philosophy of leaving things better than he found them.

Paul's life was defined not just by hard work but also by joy, curiosity, and connection. He was a natural storyteller and he was happy when making others laugh, often with a clever prank or a well-timed joke. He loved to teach, to learn, and to go fast; and he captured many of his stories about growing up and about cars in a 2021 self-published book.

Because of his love of vehicles, he owned many collector cars throughout his lifetime and was passionate about keeping the interest of classic cars alive. He devoted 15 years to the start-up of the North Adams car show. His car club involvement included the National Street Rod Association, Pontiac Oakland Car Club, Contemporary Historical Vehicle Association, Shay & Camelot Car Club, and the Hillsdale Bi-Centennial Car Society.

Paul loved the great outdoors and enjoyed maintaining his lawn and garden. He was always willing to assist his neighbors no matter the weather and enjoyed sharing his garden produce with them. Paul liked to travel and toured all fifty states, plus 10 countries.

A funeral service for Paul Schneider will take place on Wednesday, October 1, 2025, at 11:00 AM at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Hillsdale. Interment will take place at 2:00 PM at Mount Hope Cemetery in Litchfield. The family will receive friends for visitation on Wednesday, from 9:30 AM until the time of the service.
