On November 18, 2023, Paul F. Scully, husband of Dianne (Levesque) Scully, died at the age of 85 after a period of illness. Paul was born in Taunton to William and Catherine Scully, and graduated from Coyle High School. After serving proudly in the United States Marines, he graduated from New Mexico State University and later earned a Master's degree from Assumption University. Paul was a teacher at Canton High School for 36 years, where he developed and taught the school's first Psychology course and coached the softball team to an appearance in the state finals. He was also a long-time high school basketball official, refereeing state finals in all divisions and serving as vice-president, president, and then commissioner for nearly thirty years for IAABO Board 30. Paul was predeceased by his brother William Scully and his sister Martha Lucey, and is survived by his sister Therese McHale of California. Along with his wife Dianne, he is also survived by his son Christopher and his wife Elisa, of Taunton; and his son Daniel and his wife Bernadette, of Brooklyn. He was also the loving grandfather of Aidan Scully, Conal Scully, and Liam Scully, of Taunton, and Jack Scully and William Scully, of Brooklyn. Calling hours will be held at the O'Keefe-Wade funeral home, 70 Washington Street, on Saturday, December 9th, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Interment will be private.

My wife Sue and I send our thoughts and prayers to the Scully family in this time of loss of Paul. I had the privilege of working for Paul throughout the years in IAABO 30. My first year on the Board was with Milt Kelly in the early '80's followed by Paul's leadership for many, many years. Paul was instrumental in my growth in my High School basketball officiating career, now in my 40th year. Thank you Paul, you'll always be remembered, may you rest in peace. David Barbour, IAABO 30

As a classmate at Msgr. James Coyle High School, I remember Paul as intelligent, with a sharp wit, not afraid to defend himself in the feisty atmosphere of an all-boys high school. I have little doubt he used those qualities well throughout his life.
