Semmler, Paul Henry, age 82, of Hawthorne, on Saturday, January 18, 2025.
Born in Jersey City, Paul grew up in Lodi, later moved to Saddle Brook, and then became a resident of Hawthorne in 1977 where he lived for the rest of his life. From 1964 – 1970, Paul had served his country proudly in the U.S. Army Reserves. A former auto fleet mechanic for Sears and Roebuck in Maywood, Paul was an avid car enthusiast. He was a member of several car clubs, including Restored Rusty Relics, the Garden State Region Mustang Club, the Mustang Club of America, The Crown Victoria Association and the Fairlane Club of America. Paul loved antique cars and all things Ford, having owned several mustangs and thunderbirds, along with 1956 station wagons. He followed NASCAR racing along with other racing series, travelling to racetracks all over the country. However, above all, Paul loved his family.
Paul was the beloved husband of the late Helen (nee Cahn) Semmler (2000). Loving father of Helaina Semmler and her husband Ron of Mount Laurel. Brother of Henry M. Semmler and his wife Judith of River Edge and the late Alfred J. Semmler (2009). He is also survived by his dear nieces and nephews, Dawn, Bobby, Scott, Rachel, and Brian.
A funeral service will be held at 10:30 am on Wednesday, January 22, 2025, at the Browning-Forshay Funeral Home, 557 Lafayette Avenue, Hawthorne, NJ 07506. Interment will follow at Cedar Lawn Cemetery in Paterson. Friends may visit with the family at the funeral home on Tuesday January 21, from 3:00-7:00 pm.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.
