Paul F. Shantie, 83, of Malone passed away peacefully at his home on February 18, 2025. Funeral Service will be held Wednesday, February 26th at the Wesleyan Church, 121 Townhouse Road Brandon, NY at 10 am with Pastor Junita Brooks officiating. There will be a reception to follow at the Bangor Fire Department at 2367 Highway 11. Frary Funeral Home of Malone is handling this service.
Paul was one of thirteen children born on November 12, 1941 in Lisbon, NY to the late Clifford and Nora (LaMay) Shantie. Paul graduated from Franklin Academy in Malone in 1959. After graduating Paul proudly enlisted in the United States Marines for four years, until he was honorably discharged in 1962. Returning home, Paul went to work for Agway Feed and Green Stamps for a short amount of time before ultimately finding a job at Reynolds in Massena, he proudly kept for 40 plus years.
Paul found his soul mate, Margaret Kerry and were married on December 18, 1965 in the North Bangor Methodist Church. The couple went on to have three children whom he loved and adored. If Paul was not spending time with his family he could be found tending to nature. Paul loved to garden both vegetables and flowers, hunting, fishing and watching wildlife out in his meticulous yard. Paul along with his brothers are known locally for having the Shantie's Maple Products. Paul was a proud member of the NRA, and the Methodist church of Brandon.
Paul is survived by his wife of 59, Margaret "Maggie", his 2 daughters; Kerry (Andrew) Coleman of Tupper Lake and Vickie (Bryan) Law of Malone, a son; Todd Shantie of Malone, grandchildren; Aileen, Ashley, Alex, Patrick, Liam, Cooper, Grace, and Gwen along with his great grandson Bennett and one on the way. Paul is also survived by his brothers; Jay, Donald, Gary, David and Kenneth, his sisters; Theresa Brand, Ann Helms, Toni Crego and Penny Clark along with many nieces and nephews. Paul is predeceased by his parents, his siblings; Jack, Victor, and Helen.
