I am saddened to see news about Dr. Silver's passing in the Summer 2023 issue of the Northern Vermont University Alumni Magazine. I took several courses from him as a student at JSC between 1978-1982. His lectures were always interesting and he will always be missed.

Paul was a caring and devoted teacher. His commitment to students of all ages and abilities was unsurpassed. I would often chat with him about his desire to teach students in the External Degree program. Paul´s spirit will forever live on the campus at Johnson. Valerie Edwards

Paul Silver was a cherished and valued presence at meetings he attended as an on-campus faculty representative of the Johnson State Colled External Degree Program Review Board (now the NVU Online Program). His incisive comments and timely humor helped us to focus on the needs and work of adult learners. His wisdom with an undertone of wit left its mark.

I'm sad to learn that Paul Silver has died. I knew him through my mom, Joanna Noel Meyer, who worked with him at Johnson for a long time. Then I taught with him in PROVE in the summer of 1986 when I was not long out of college. I really appreciated his dry humor in the classroom. I've gone on to teach history at the college level myself and his words keep coming back to me. Paul kindly lent me a book in a pinch, years later. Right on brand.

Dr. Silver was one of my favorite instructors during my time at Johnson. Our humor clicked and his lectures were never without one-liners and puns. His joy and passion in teaching is something that will stay with me forever.

Dr. Silver was my advisor and teacher at Johnson State College back in the 90's. I enjoyed every meeting with him. He was patient and kind. Witty and funny. He was always frank, but also encouraging. Sending my condolences to the family. He was a wonderful person!!
Best, Arleigh
