Paul Michael “Mike” Simmons was born on February 27, 1947, to Raymond and Dorothy Simmons in Shreveport, Louisiana, and passed away on Saturday, December 2, 2023, in Shreveport, Louisiana.
Mike received his Associate Degree in Biblical Studies. He pastored at Stonewall Methodist, in Stonewall, Louisiana, and Denton Methodist, in Denton, Texas. He worked in trucking for the last 30 years of his career as a manager, dispatcher, and driver for Martin Transport. He was a Deacon, Sunday School teacher, and the unofficial greeter at Cypress Baptist Church. He loved reading his Bible and sharing his love of scripture. He enjoyed fishing, camping, and being outside taking in all of God’s creations and creatures. He loved spending time with his family, sharing smiles, and his gentle spirit with others. He never met a stranger but when he did, he shared God’s love with them. He would often buy Bibles with recipients’ names on them as gifts. He treasured his Sunday School class and the friendships he shared. He loved his daughters, sons-in-law, grandchildren, and “His Pat” as he often referred to her. He was truly a wonderful man and will be missed dearly by all who knew him.
Paul Michael “Mike” Simmons was preceded in death by his parents; beloved mentor Brother Frank Beauchamp; and stepmother, Frances Simmons. Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Pat Dupuis Simmons; daughters, JoAnna Milholen and husband, Ryan, Courtney Bouillon and husband, Brian; grandchildren, Lainey Bouillon and fiancée, Trey Malone, Caleb Milholen, Lexy Bouillon, and Brittany Milholen.
