Obituary published on Legacy.com by Sisco Funeral Chapel - Springdale on Mar. 8, 2025.
Paul Richard Simmons passed peacefully, surrounded by family, on February 27, 2025, at the age of 85. He was welcomed into eternity just seven months after the passing of his beloved wife, Patricia Ann Simmons, his partner in life and love for over six decades.
Paul was born on March 18, 1939, in Yuma, Arizona, alongside his twin sister, Patricia, to parents Maude and Al Simmons. He was the youngest of ten children and the third set of twins his mother lovingly brought into the world.
In 1956, Paul answered the call to serve his country, enlisting in the United States Marine Corps, a duty he carried out with great pride. Following his service, he moved to Riverside, California, where he met the love of his life, Patricia. The two were married on June 22, 1958, and together they built a beautiful family, raising three children: Richard Alan, Sherry Lynn, and Pamela Gail.
Paul was a devoted grandfather to five grandchildren-Sarah, Jeremiah, Danielle, Anthony, and Christopher-and a proud great-grandfather to ten: Lily, Katy Beth, Arden West, Lucas, Norabelle, Kruz Alan, Abbott Grey, Rory Lee, August Rey, and Olive Willow. His legacy extended even further with the blessing of one great-great-grandchild, LoreLei.
In 1992, Paul and Patricia made the life-changing decision to move from San Marcos, California, to
Springdale, Arkansas, bringing with them their three adult children, their spouses, and grandchildren. Their unwavering commitment to family was a testament to the love and loyalty that bound them together-an extraordinary example of Agape love.
Paul was a man of deep faith who loved Jesus with all his heart. A natural leader, he pastored and preached many services, officiating weddings and funerals for those dear to him. He lived by the values he instilled in his family: work hard, pray harder.
A skilled general contractor, Paul built many homes, including the one he and Patricia cherished for over 32 years. He had a passion for heavy equipment, particularly his Caterpillar D8 dozer, and was never one to sit still-always working, tinkering, and fixing something. His hands were rarely idle, and his work ethic was unmatched.
On Sundays, Paul could always be found dressed to the nines in a suit, ready to worship. In his free time, he found joy in square dancing and bowling, hobbies he shared with Patricia and friends.
Paul's family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at The Bungalows Assisted Living and Circle of Life Hospice, both in
Springdale, Arkansas, for their compassionate care during his final days.
A celebration of Paul's life will be held on his birthday, March 18, 2025, at 12:30 PM at Springdale First Assembly Church, where loved ones will gather to honor his memory and the incredible life he lived. Burial will follow at Fayetteville National Cemetery.
Rest in peace, Grandpa. You were the pillar of our family, the foundation upon which we stood. Your love, wisdom, and unwavering faith will live on in our hearts forever.
