It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Paul L. Snyder Jr., lovingly known as "Skip," who left us peacefully on Monday, November 3, 2025, at the age of 72. After passing from complications of Parkinson's Disease, he is now walking with Jesus. Born on July 30, 1953, in Martinsburg, WV, Paul made his way to Delmar at the age of 13, where he spent his life creating lasting memories with family and friends. He was a son of the late Julia B. "Mus" Terlson (Thomas) and Paul L. Snyder, Sr. (Nancy).
A proud graduate of the Delmar High School Class of 1971, Paul was a man of many talents. He had a knack for woodworking and fishing, often spending hours outdoors, crafting everything from beautiful furniture to treasured memories on the water. One of his proudest accomplishments was building one of their previous homes and remodeling their current one, where many joyous gatherings took place.
Skip was an artist at heart, finding joy in drawing and painting, and he had a special fondness for feeding the local wildlife, especially the neighborhood fox, whom he nicknamed "Taco". He loved birds and had a particular soft spot for hummingbirds, often attracting them to his yard with thoughtful care. In his early days Skip worked as a butcher at the A&P, before rewarding careers with Dixon Insurance, Robert Messick Home Builders and Mid-Atlantic Fasteners. He retired as an inspector with the Wicomico County Fire Marshall's Office.
Living with Parkinson's disease was not easy for Skip, but he leaned heavily on his family, his faith, and his church, Cross Pointe Nazarene, which helped him navigate the past few years. His body was broken, but never his faith.
Skip is survived by his devoted wife, Gloria Snyder, with whom he just celebrated an incredible 50 years of marriage. He will be dearly missed by his family, brothers-in-law Joe Dixon (Annette) and David Dixon, along with sisters-in-law Lois Ruark (Gary) and Dorcas Morrow, many nieces, nephews and many, many close friends. He is also survived by siblings: brother Jay Terlson (Michelle); and sisters Sherry Jernigan and Deborah Pearrell. Each of them carries cherished memories of Skip that will last a lifetime.
In honoring Skip's life, a funeral service will be held at Cross Pointe Nazarene, 27765 Nanticoke Road in Salisbury on Friday, November 7, 2025, at 12:00 PM, following a visitation at the same location starting at 10:00 AM. Skip will be laid to rest at Wicomico Memorial Park in Salisbury.
In memory of Mr. Snyder, contributions may be sent to Cross Pointe Nazarene, 27765 Nanticoke Road, Salisbury, MD 21801.
We invite all who knew Paul to join us in celebrating the wonderful life he lived and the love he shared. He may be gone, but his spirit will shine on in the hearts of those who loved him.
Arrangements are in the care of Short Funeral Home in Delmar. Online condolences may be sent to the family by visiting www.shortfh.com.
