Paul V. Specht, age 83, of Hampton, NH, passed away peacefully on January 23, 2026, surrounded by family. He was the loving husband of Kathleen (Burns) Specht, and they shared 59 wonderful years of marriage.
Paul was born on October 17, 1942, in Lynn, MA, the son of the late William M. and Olive (Weddleton) Specht. He graduated from Saugus High School in 1960 and earned his Bachelor’s Degree through the General Electric Apprentice Program at Tufts University in 1967. For 38 years, he worked as a mechanical engineer in GE’s Jet Engines Division. After retirement, he and Kathleen enjoyed spending their winters in Alligator Park in Punta Gorda, Florida, where they made many treasured friendships.
Paul was ordained a Catholic Deacon in 1994 and served at St. Patrick’s Church in Lawrence and later at St. André Bessette Parish in Amesbury and Salisbury. Many will remember his calm voice, warm smile, and simple presence.
At home, Paul loved figuring out how things worked, fixing anything that needed attention, and helping others. He also enjoyed time on the golf course and treasured many moments with his family. His quiet strength, humor, and devotion will be deeply missed.
Paul is survived by his wife, Kathleen; his children, Nancy Moncada and her spouse, Deborah Hanson of Haverhill, MA; Paul Specht and his spouse, Eric Wirth of Easthampton, MA; and Diane Grove and her spouse, Matthew Grove of Tewksbury, MA; and his grandchildren, Sabrina, Mario, Lucas, Alex, Skyler, Caroline, and Christian. He also leaves his brother, Robert Specht, along with extended family and many dear friends.
He was predeceased by his son, Matthew Specht, in 2024; his brother, Carl Specht, and Carl’s wife, Edna; and his sister-in-law, Aletha Specht.
Visiting hours will be held at St. Joseph Church of St. André Bessette Parish, 2 School Street, Amesbury, MA, on February 4th from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. A Funeral Mass will follow on February 5th at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Paul’s memory to St. Vincent de Paul of Hampton or Amesbury.
