Paul Melvin Struve, 79, of Two Harbors passed away on October 1 at his home, with his wife by his side after suffering with pulmonary fibrosis.
He was born March 9, 1945 in Minneapolis and as a child spent summers at a farm in Walnut Grove where he developed a love for tractors. Paul enjoyed restoring tractors and spending time with his tractor club friends. He graduated from Columbia Heights High School and served with the US Army Military Police in Alaska from 1965-1967.
Paul worked for many companies doing all sorts for jobs; from painting homes to bridges and retired as a painter after 20 years of service with the U of M.
He had a great love of history and enjoyed traveling the US and Europe visiting historical sites. Paul had a very creative mind in designing and building stone replica lighthouses and fishing boats.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Eleanor and Melvin; sister, Jeanine Patterson; and step-son, Bryan O’Geay.
Paul is survived by his wife, Kay; son, Michael (Diedre) Struve; daughter, Sheri (Frank) Ganley; step-son, Robert (Maegan) O’Geay; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and numerous cousins and friends.
