Obituary published on Legacy.com by Somerset Undertaking Co. and Crematory - Somerset on Nov. 17, 2025.
Eva Jean (Sweet) Struve, 91 of Somerset, Kentucky formerly of Guilford, Connecticut, passed from this life on Saturday, November 15, 2025, at The Neighborhood Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Somerset.
She was born on April 9, 1934, in Toledo, Ohio, the daughter of the late William Sweet and Pearl Berkowitz Sweet. She graduated from Scott High School in Toledo, completed her undergraduate studies at Ohio State University and began her career as a primary school teacher. She later earned a doctorate in Counseling Psychology also from Ohio State University in 1967 and embarked on a long 30+ year career as a psychologist for the Veteran's Administration first in Columbus, Ohio, then in Hampton, Virginia, and later in Shreveport, Louisiana. Serving veterans was the greatest joy of her professional career. She married Philip Zauderer in 1956 and had three daughters: Andrea, Naomi and Wendy. She loved taking her daughters on walks in Blacklick Woods, talking on the phone with her friends, reading books, going to the movies, singing and listening to jazz music and doting on her many cats and dogs. She will be
dearly missed by her family and friends.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Richard "Dick" Sweet and her second husband, Fred Struve.
She is survived by her daughters; Andrea (Fred) LaCroix of Cardiff by the Sea, California, Naomi Zauderer (Stephen Choi) of San Jose, Costa Rica, Wendy Zauderer (Jeffrey Miles) of Somerset, Kentucky, siblings; Marcia Sweet of Chicago, Illinois, Don (Katie) Sweet of San Antonio, Texas, four grandchildren; Emily Shafer, Tommy Zauderer, Matthew & Anna LaCroix, and great-grandchildren; Parker and Casper Shafer.
