Paul Anthony Sweo

Paul Anthony Sweo was born on November 26, 1944 and passed away on August 22, 2022 at the age of 77. Paul was a lifelong resident of Portland, Oregon. He was the youngest of 5 children born to loving parents Edwin A and Ida M Sweo (Graf). Paul felt he had an idyllic childhood and truly believed that he had two of the best parents in the world. Education and religion were very important in his childhood home. He attended Ascension Catholic School and Central Catholic High School where he graduated with perfect attendance. He followed his brothers lead to University of Portland but decided after 1 year that this was not the path he wanted to take. Paul tried a series of odd jobs until he found his place at Western Electric as an installer where he stayed until he retired after 35 years. He was fortunate enough to retire early and encouraged his children to do the same.
As a benefit of his early retirement Paul was able to have many hobbies. His parents felt it was important to expose their children to as many activities as possible and according to Paul he loved every one of these activities. Paul played baseball in his youth and enjoyed snow skiing from time to time. In his teens he became interested in cars, boats, and motorcycles. When his children were young, he made sure to take them on camping trips and out on one of his many boats to fish, waterski or just pull up on the beach to enjoy the day. Paul was a man who loved his toys whether it be motorcycles, cars, boats, golf clubs or fishing paraphernalia. He was an avid fisherman, hunter, golfer, and puzzle solver.
Paul leaves behind his children, Judy (Scott) Jones and Ken (Margaret) Sweo, nine grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren; his siblings, Ed (Sharon) Sweo, David Sweo and Joan Connor as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Paul was preceded in death by his parents Ed and Ida Sweo, his sister Irene Adamson, brother in law David Connor, and sister in law Suzanne Sweo.
Please join us in celebrating Paul's life on Friday September 16, 2022 at 11 am, St John the Apostle Church, 417 Washington St, Oregon City, OR 97045. A reception will be held at the church following the mass.
