Paul D. Thompson, of Haddon Township, NJ, passed away peacefully on June 9, 2025, at the age of 90. He was the devoted husband of Teresa E. (nee Mars) Thompson, his beloved wife of 66 years.
Paul was the cherished father of Tracey DiCrescenzo (John) of Haddon Township, NJ; Jennifer Thompson (Beth) of Freeport, ME; and Pamela Heacock (Todd) of Charlotte, NC. He was a proud and loving grandfather to Brett, Scott, and Eric DiCrescenzo, as well as Paul Joseph and Sarah Mae Heacock, and a treasured great-grandfather to Simon and Jonah DiCrescenzo.
Paul lived a humble and purposeful life, always centered around his family. From the moment he married Teresa, they built a home filled with warmth, laughter, and unconditional love. To visit their home was to be welcomed as family—especially around the kitchen table, where Teresa’s home cooking was always being served.
A man of deep and abiding faith, Paul led by quiet example—teaching his children through his actions how to live with kindness, humility, and trust in God. He was a long-standing and active member of Martin Luther Chapel in Pennsauken, NJ, where he worshipped faithfully, served generously, and formed lasting friendships. His church was not just a place of worship, but a second home. He also worked at Public Service Electric and Gas for over 30 years.
Paul believed in the importance of life’s simple skills and shared them with care—how to change a tire, pump gas, and take care of what you have—but also how to lend a hand, take pride in your work, and show up with love. He loved the outdoors, cherished his tools, and found joy in family vacations to New Hampshire. A devoted fan of Duke, UNC, and Penn State college sports, he also spent many years coaching and supporting his children and grandchildren from the sidelines.
Though a man of few words, when Paul spoke, you listened. He had a strong handshake, a gentle spirit, a quick wit, and a calming presence that made the world feel just a little steadier. He was always curious, always listening, and always caring.
He leaves behind his beloved Teresa, his devoted children and grandchildren, and many others who were blessed by his steady presence and quiet strength. His legacy lives on in the lives he shaped, the faith he lived, and the love he gave without measure.
Funeral services will be private. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Paul’s memory may be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Association of America (MSAA) of NJ, 375 Kings Hwy. N., Suite B, Cherry Hill, NJ 08034.
