Paul Anthony Townsend, 53, of Prospect took his last ride on Sunday, November 24, 2024 when he entered his eternal home with the Lord. 

Born August 19, 1971, he is survived by the love of his life of 37 years, Crystal G. Townsend and son Hunter W. Townsend. In addition to his wife and son he is survived by his mother, Judy Ownby (Tom), brothers ; Tim Townsend, John Townsend, Daniel Townsend, Matthew Townsend, Kenny Krall, and Josh King.

Paul was known by many through his various trades over the years. He began his career welding at C&L Welding . He was a police officer and deputy sheriff for several jurisdictions and was a lifelong mechanic. He was employed by Buckingham County Schools for the last 19 years.

His avid hobbies included: fixing cars, trucks,and lawn mowers- drag racing; Go-Kart racing; riding his Harley; and hunting and fishing. He loved chatting with his CB radio family. He spent many hours volunteering for Impact VA Missions and teaching kids to fish at 4-H camp.

He will be remembered for his willingness to support those in need, always lending a helping hand and putting a smile on so many faces with his jokes and pranks.

He was preceded in death by his son, Kenny Townsend, father, Danny Townsend, grandparents: Woodrow and Dora Townsend, Kenneth Sr. and Pearlie Giles.

Paul had numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and in-laws whom he loved dearly.

Those wishing to make a memorial contribution in Paul’s name can be made to Holiday Lake 4-H Educational Center at 1267 4-H Camp Road, Appomattox, VA 24522 

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, November 27, 2024, 11:00AM at Calvary Tabernacle with interment to be held following the service at Prospect United Methodist Church Cemetery. Family will receive friends Tuesday, November 26, 2024, 6:00-8:00PM at Puckett Funeral Home.
