Paul Dean Tyson of Clinton, South Carolina passed away April 6, 2025.
He was born January 20, 1936 in Little Rock, Arkansas to Merle Charlene Hicks and Jewel Reaves Tyson. In 1952 at the age of 16, he graduated from Sheridan High School in Sheridan, Arkansas. He was predeceased by his wife of 63 years, Betty Janelle Sanders Tyson, his mother and father, sisters Georgia Lee Owens Covington (Alfred) of Arkansas and Martha Louise Owens Davenport (Ralph) of Arizona.
He is survived by his daughters, Paula Jean Tyson Pace (Brian) of Clinton, and Teresa Ann Tyson Landau (the late Jeff) of Clinton, granddaughters Dr. Nora Ann Pace of Clinton, Elizabeth Ann English (William) of Florida, Jennifer Lynn English of Florida, and sister Karen Jamay Owens Taylor (William) of Arkansas.
Paul moved to Clinton on his 19th birthday in 1955. He began his career with Clinton Mills in the Weaving Department. He enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1958 and became an instructor in Nuclear Weapons Fusing Systems. While serving, Paul continued his education in various military schools and the University of Colorado. After leaving the Air Force, he returned to Clinton Mills where he transferred from the weave room to the Data Processing Department. He held various job titles until his retirement from Clinton Mills (CMI) in 1997 as Corporate Director of Information Technologies.
He was saved during a Revival at East End Baptist church in 1946 and baptized in what is now Mary Lake in the East End Community of Saline County, Arkansas. He has been a member of Bellview Baptist Church since 1966 and served as a Sunday School Teacher, Deacon, Treasurer, and Greeter.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to all the staff of NHCClinton, special mention to the C-Wing and therapy staff, the staff of Martha Franks, and the staff of Self Regional Hospital for the care and love shown to our Daddy and Papa.
Funeral Services will be held 2:00 PM, Saturday, April 12, 2025 at Bellview Baptist Church with Rev. Darren Rood and Rev. Jeff Shiflet officiating. Burial will follow in the Church cemetery.
The family will greet visitors prior to the service from 1:00 PM -2:00 PM at the Church.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting memorials be made to the Building Fund of Bellview Baptist Church, 757 Bellview Church Road, Laurens SC.
The family will be at the home of his daughter, Paula Pace, 1520 Leesville Church Road, Clinton, SC 29325.
