Paul Vautour Obituary

Paul L. Vautour, 61, of Rutland and formerly of Auburn, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, September 14, 2025 at his home.

He leaves his sister, May Harter and her husband, Stephen, of Woodbury, CT; and their children, Joshua and Emery Harter, both of whom meant the world to Paul. He also leaves his beloved cat, Patches. Paul was predeceased by his parents, Arcade and Emerise (Arsenault) Vautour; and his infant sister, Annette.

Paul was born in Worcester, and was raised and educated in Auburn; he graduated from Auburn High School and received an Associate's degree at the New England Institute of Technology in Rhode Island.

He was a hardworking craftsman and carpenter, who could fix or build just about anything. Paul loved old cars, music, antiques, woodworking, hunting, fishing, and flea markets. He enjoyed watching the Boston Red Sox, Boston Bruins, and the New England Patriots. Paul was proud of his 25 years of sobriety, and was an AA sponsor as well. He also loved spending time with his extended family of aunts, uncles and many cousins in New Brunswick, Canada.

Paul's family would like to thank the staff of Albacare, the Fitchburg Community Care Center, and the University of Massachusetts Hospital Cardiac Intensive Care Unit nurses and staff. Last but not least, the family would like to thank Buzzy (Edward) Sweeney, Paul's lifelong childhood friend who was always there for him and Paul's many kind and caring neighbors in both Auburn and Rutland.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Paul's family between 4 – 7 PM on Thursday, October 2, 2025 at the BRITTON-WALLACE FUNERAL HOME, 91 Central Street, Auburn. A brief prayer service will be held at 7 PM. Burial will be held privately at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the Rutland Council on Aging Gift Account, 250 Main Street, Rutland, MA 01543 or to a local food bank to help those in need.
