Paul A. Wember, age 90, of McHenry passed away January 14, 2026 at home surrounded by his loving family. Paul was born June 8, 1935 in Milwaukee, to parents Peter and Vera Wember. On October 27, 1962 he married Linda Schobert, and they had six children together. They were married for 41 years until her passing in 2003. He is survived by his children; Teresa Wember, Tony (Helen) Wember, Tom (Lori) Wember, John (Debi) Wember, Susan (Craig) Kurtz, and Paul (Vicki) Wember; grandchildren Caitlin (Jason) Pappas, Nicole (Rich) Eber, Annie (Ed) Cleven, Steven (Olivia) Wember, Jacob (Kacey) Wember, Morgan (Wes) Ertmer, Abbigail (Alec) Graef, Madison Wray, Emma Wray, Catie Wember, Matthew Wember, Jack Wember, Lauren Wember, Mary Kurtz, Ellen Kurtz, Andy Kurtz, Nathaniel Wember, Joshua Wember, and Heather Wember; great-grandchildren Joe, Everly, Barrett, Richie, Ellie, Greta, Lucy, Noah, Daniel, Meredith, and Charlotte. Dear significant other to Linda Moran for 20 years. Preceded in death by his parents Peter and Vera, his wife Linda, and brother Tom Wember. Beloved Friend to many. Paul was a proud Marine veteran who served his country as a fighter pilot. His military service inspired a distinguished career at United Airlines, where he flew for 35 years before retiring in 1995. An adventurer at heart and a true world traveler, Paul was a risk-taker who loved surprising those around him. (He even went jet skiing for his 90th birthday.) Paul delighted in good food and good fun, sunsets and boat rides on the Fox River. Above all, he was deeply proud of his family and the life they shared together. A devoted "Friend of Bill" for 36 years, he was a mentor and guiding light to many as well as a proud member of the Knights of Columbus. Visitation will be held Friday, January 23, 2026 at Colonial Funeral Home 591 Ridgeview Dr., McHenry IL from 4pm to 8pm. A funeral mass will be held Saturday, January 24, at St. Patrick Church, 3500 Washington St, McHenry, IL at 11:00am with interment to follow at St. Patrick Countryside Cemetery.
