Paul Wojahn was born on June 19, 1921, to Henry and Minnie (Finstad) Wojahn in Temvik, North Dakota. He attended District 176 near Comfrey, Minnesota, and later studied agriculture at the University of Minnesota.
As a young man, Paul hitchhiked to California, where he worked for Douglas Aircraft before enlisting in the United States Marine Corps during World War II. He served honorably in the Pacific Theater from August 1942 to December 1945.
Upon returning home, Paul married Emy Lundberg on March 21, 1946. He farmed for a time before learning about the state warden service exams. After passing the tests, Paul began a career in public service, becoming a Minnesota State Game Warden in 1958 and also serving as a State Sheriff's Deputy. In 1979, he was transferred to New Ulm for a promotion with the Department of Natural Resources. He retired in 1983.
Retirement did little to slow Paul down. He remained active by teaching gun safety classes and CPR, generously sharing his time and knowledge with others. He volunteered as a van driver for the
DAV until the age of 85 and continued helping with the
DAV clothing drive until he was 104 years old. Paul also enjoyed selling food at the brat stand at CashWise, helping with the Lions Club Fly-In Pancake Breakfast, and ringing bells for
The Salvation Army at Hy-Vee-something he began at the age of 96.
Paul was a devoted member of Christ the King Lutheran Church and touched countless lives through his service, kindness, and unwavering willingness to help others. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Blessed be his memory.
