Paul Owen Woolsey, age 71, of Lovilia, IA, passed away on Wednesday, November 28, 2024, at Pella Regional Health Center in Pella, IA.
Paul was born on April 8, 1953, in Waterloo, IA, to Wayne Otto and Louise Woolsey. He grew up attending school and graduated from West High School in Waterloo. On November 20, 1992, he was united in marriage to Kathy Burk at the Methodist Church in Lovilia. Paul and Kathy shared 32 years of marriage prior to his passing.
Paul was a groundskeeper and maintenance man for the VA Hospital in Knoxville and later in Des Moines. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting, fishing, and trapping as well as spending time at the river. He was a Christian man and was strong in his faith. His true joy in life was spending time with his family and friends.
Paul is survived by his wife, Kathy; a son, Nicholas Woolsey; three stepsons, Guy Weldon, Kevin Houser, and Chris Houser; seven grandchildren, Brenden Woolsey, Brylee Woolsey, Harper Woolsey, Ashley Hughes, David Binns, Danni Binns, and Kaylee Weldon; his sister, Diane Mayer; and his best friend, Mike Bellon. Paul is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and other good friends.
Paul is preceded in death by his parents, Wayne and Louise Woolsey; a daughter-in-law, Emily Woolsey; a grandson, Guy Martin; and a niece, Erin.
Per Paul's wishes, his body has been cremated and a private family burial will be held at a later date.
