Paula Garriott Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Buchanan Funeral Home - Austin on Dec. 29, 2025.
Paula Denise Garriott, aged 61, of Austin, Indiana, passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 21, 2025, at Norton Scott Hospital in Scottsburg, Indiana. Born on December 18, 1964, in Seymour, Indiana, she was the cherished daughter of the late Frances (Wigner) Patton and Paul Garriott, who survives her. Paula's life was a testament to the enduring power of love, a theme beautifully encapsulated in her favorite quote by Jack Thorne, "Those we love never truly leave us. There are some things death cannot touch."Our mom, Paula Garriott, was someone who gave her whole heart to the things and people she loved. She was an avid blogger, gamer, and foodie. She loved expressing herself through writing, getting immersed in games she enjoyed, and finding comfort and happiness in food. Those things brought her joy and helped her feel connected to the world. But more than anything else, our mom loved her two sons. She always said that we were the best thing she ever did-the greatest thing she ever contributed to this world. She meant it completely. She would do anything in her power for us, no matter what, and we always knew we were loved and supported by her.Our mom wasn't perfect, but she was real, passionate, and deeply caring. Her love for us shaped who we are, and her memory will stay with us for the rest of our lives. She will always be our mom, and we will always carry her with us.Above all, Paula's greatest love was for her two sons, Darius and DeMarkus Rayford of Palm Harbor, Florida. In addition to her father and her sons, Paula leaves behind a legacy of love and memories that will be cherished by all who knew her. She was preceded in death by her mother, Frances Patton, and her brother, Michael Garriott. In accordance with Paula's wishes, direct cremation has been chosen. There will be no services or visitation, allowing her family and friends to honor her memory in their own personal ways.
