Paula J Manzer, age 78, of Gloversville, left us on Sunday, May 4, 2025. Worst. Day. Ever.
She is survived by her children Mary (Steve) Peterson, George Emden and Christie (Greg) Emden-Stein, her six grandchildren Tara (Dustin) Ponzi, Natasha Emden, Tianna (Cody) Emden, Knicklas Emden, Alaina (Michael) Danise and Amanda (Michael) Demers, a host of great-grandchildren and her partner in crime and dear friend, Candie (Emden) Pianelli.
Paula was born on August 11, 1946, to Frances and Mary (Wittmann) Piccione. In addition to her parents, Paula was predeceased by her sister Frances Piccione and her husband Bernard Manzer Sr.
Mom loved her family and friends and enjoyed engaging with her neighbors at the Kingsboro Towers apartments, where she lived contentedly for more than 15 years.
She was a hard worker and for over 35 years made boat windshields for NA Taylor. She loved her job and coworkers. She rarely missed a day and never turned down overtime. Her work ethic and determination to provide for her family were unparalleled. We always had enough of everything that mattered.
Mom was a voracious reader and could often be found with her nose buried in a book, oblivious to the world. She loved mysteries, thrillers, sci-fi and fantasy above all. The dragons of Pern, and dragons in general, were among her favorite things. Needless to say, she spent a lot of time perusing the shelves at the Gloversville Public Library. She passed along this passion to her kids, and we thank her. What a gift.
A lover of animals, especially dogs, Mom shared her home and heart with many over the years, including a bevy of beagles. Most recently, she adopted Suzy, a senior chihuahua. The two "old gals" became fast and best friends until Suzy crossed the rainbow bridge a few years back. Mom missed her every day, and we're hopeful they are now happily reunited. In lieu of flowers, Mom would have loved for you to adopt a senior pet. If that's not possible, please consider donating to your local animal shelter. And if that's not your thing, take a page from another of Mom's books and make a donation to your local library. Oh, she also loved puns. The worse, the better!
Rest easy, Mommy.
