Paula Paxton Memmott, 81, passed away surrounded by family on March 26, 2026, in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Paula was born January 12, 1945, in Fillmore, Utah, to Mark and Nelda Tomkinson Paxton. As a child, she loved growing up in Fillmore and often spoke fondly of those early years. One of her favorite memories was traveling to Salt Lake City and spending time at the State Capitol while her father served as President of the Utah State Senate. She graduated from Millard High School in 1963, where she was a member of the Selgaes. During her school years, she formed many cherished friendships that she maintained throughout her life.
She married Wendell Kay Memmott on December 26, 1964, in the Manti Temple. Together they made their home in Sandy, Utah, for over 50 years, where they loved serving others and formed many wonderful friendships.
Paula had a gift for treating everyone like family. She loved to cook and bake and was happiest when she was taking care of others. Her home was always open, and over the years she welcomed dozens of teenagers, many of whom lovingly referred to her as “Aunt Paula.” She also enjoyed traveling, with Boston being one of her favorite places to visit, and made many memorable trips to destinations across the United States. Her greatest joys were her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Paula was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served faithfully in the Primary organization for over 17 years.
She is survived by her children, Michael Kay (Deborah) Memmott and Monica Lyn Earl; her grandchildren, Miranda Memmott, Katelyn (Alan) Barth, Brinley (Bridger) Record, and Mitchell Memmott; and her great-grandchildren, Brooklyn Barth and Navy Record, with another great-granddaughter expected in August 2026. She is also survived by her sister, Rene Huntington.
Paula was preceded in death by her parents, Mark and Nelda Paxton; her sister, Theone Vincent; her brothers-in-law, Jack Huntington and Kent Vincent; and her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Nord and Colleen Memmott.
A viewing will be held at the Fillmore 1st/4th Ward chapel, 290 E 500 S St, Fillmore, UT, on April 2, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., followed by a graveside service at 1:00 p.m. at the Fillmore Cemetery.
