Phyllis Katherine Lambert McKee, 93, joined her beloved eternal companion Lex in the spirit world on September 29, 2025. Phyllis was born March 9, 1932 in Fillmore, Utah to Charles Phillip Lambert and Mildred Kathryn Snyder Lambert. She was a gifted musician who played oboe in high school, taught herself to play the piano and accordion and was also the valedictorian of her class. She met her eternal sweetheart Lex at Millard High School. They were married in the Logan Utah Temple August 23, 1950.

They lived in the Salt Lake City area for the first 23 years of their marriage. Their children have tender memories of weekend hikes in the Salt Lake City canyons, fishing and camping trips to Strawberry Reservoir, and attending football games at the University of Utah. Phyllis and Lex built a home on the McKee family homestead property in Holden and moved there in 1973. They lived there full time for five years and then spent time at their residences in both Salt Lake and Holden. Eventually, they returned to live full time on their much loved Holden homestead.

Phyllis was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and she served in many capacities. She was a temple worker in the Manti Temple, Primary president, Relief Society president, taught in numerous auxiliaries and led the ward choir. She also served a mission with her husband in Cove Fort, Utah. A particularly favorite calling was her service as the conductor of the Millard High School Seminary Choir. This outstanding choir had the opportunity to sing at a stake conference where the then-current prophet, Spencer W. Kimball, was speaking. Phyllis was highly dedicated to family history work. After greeting Lex at the veil she undoubtedly joyfully reunited with the thousands of family members whom she lovingly researched and performed their proxy temple ordinance work.

Phyllis and Lex enjoyed hosting family activities. Their homestead in Holden was the gathering spot for many family reunions and other festivities. Her children and their families celebrated Thanksgiving there each year for over 40 years. Some of the grandchildren’s favorite memories were gathering arrowheads on the property, golfing in their backyard, playing by the pond, swinging on the cedar tree swing, exploring the forty acres and walks down the lane with grandma and grandpa. She was also a BYU and Utah Jazz fan. Weeks before her death she was excitedly communicating with her oldest grandson about the latest sporting events.

Phyllis is survived by her two children, Sue Ann (Richard) Egan, Salt Lake City, Utah; Lex David (Jodi) McKee, Elk Ridge, Utah, eight grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great-grandchildren.

Her children, grandchildren and the community of Holden will celebrate her life at an intimate graveside service in the Holden Utah Cemetery on Tuesday, October 7 at noon. Interment will be at the Holden Cemetery under the direction of Rasmussen Mortuary. In lieu of flowers please donate to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Humanitarian Aid Fund.
