Paula A Yesiolowski ObituaryPaula A. Yesiolowski (née Kucherak) passed away peacefully on August 13, 2025, at Holy Family Home Health Care & Hospice in Parma, OH, surrounded by the love of her family and friends. Born April 17, 1956, in Cleveland, OH, Paula was a proud Willoughby resident for 30 years. She will be remembered as a woman with a generous heart, a quick wit, and an unwavering dedication to the people and community she loved.
Paula was the loving sister of Richard (Mary Ann) Kucherak, adored aunt of Brian (Alicyn) Kucherak, Christopher Kucherak, and Kevin (Candace) Kucherak; and cherished "YaYa" to Ava, Jack, Sadie, and Mack Kucherak. She was the sister-in-law of Mona and aunt to Mindy. Paula was also an incredible and devoted friend to Donna, Janet, Mary, John, Al, Jane, Billy, Carol, Derek, Norma, Jenna, Claudette, Jeanne, Debbie, Vaughn, Nick, and Judean, and a cousin of many and a friend to more.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband and best friend of 35 years, Mike Yesiolowski, and her loving parents, Paul and Audrey Kucherak (née Pollard).
Known for her warmth, generosity, and love of gathering people together, Paula was an exceptional cook and hostess. Family dinners at her home were legendary-whether she served surf and turf, hot dogs, or her famous prime rib roasts, the meals were always made with love and surrounded by laughter. She was especially known for her wonderful Christmas and Easter celebrations, with her annual Easter Egg Hunts becoming a beloved tradition for family and friends alike. Paula shared a special bond with her nephews and great-nieces and nephews, serving as a second mother to her nephews and a "bonus grandmother" to the little ones. She was truly one of a kind, always reminding others to "be kind to one another."
Paula's career with the City of Willoughby began in 1998, when she joined the switchboard part-time, answering the countless calls that came in each day. When a full-time position opened in the Parks and Recreation Department, Paula was the natural choice-her warmth, patience, and genuine love for people made her perfect for the role. For over two decades, Paula was the friendly, welcoming voice on the other end of the line when you called to register your child for swimming lessons, camp, or a sports team, inquire about a class for yourself or a loved one, or reserve a facility. She knew everyone, and everyone knew Paula. She made every interaction easy, helpful, and personal, treating each caller like a neighbor and friend.
Paula's dedication extended far beyond her work. She was often seen volunteering at events throughout the city, and she faithfully spent Saturday mornings at the Willoughby Farmers Market selling raffle tickets to benefit the Clean City Commission of Willoughby Association. As Board of Trustee of the Association, she spearheaded many community initiatives, including the idea for the City's Shredding Event-an effort that continues to serve residents today. The City of Willoughby was truly fortunate to have Paula as both a devoted employee and a caring resident, whose kindness, service, and bright spirit left a lasting mark on the community she loved.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, August 17, from 1:00 to 5:00 PM at the McMahon-Coyne-Vitantonio Funeral Home, 38001 Euclid Ave., Willoughby. A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, August 18, at the Funeral Home, with burial to follow at Willoughby Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Holy Family Health Care and Hospice, 6707 State Road, Parma, OH 44134.
