Paulina Faye (Opitz) Nelson
August 1, 1959 – October 7, 2025
Born on August 1, 1959 to Rudy and June Opitz in Fort Cobb, Oklahoma, then moved to Galey, Oklahoma. Here she attended Asher and then Byng High School, where she met the love of her life Jerry Nelson. She obtained her psychology degree with honors from East Central University, but spent the majority of her life building a home and a business. Later in life, she worked at East Central University and then at the Oklahoma State University's Pontotoc County Extension office as an educator. She is survived by her husband Jerry of the home, a daughter Charity and her husband Daylan Webb, a son Jeremy Nelson and wife Ashley, and four grandchildren – Sophia, Chaleigh, Amelia, and Jagger. She is also survived by 3 siblings; Dorothy McPherson, Donna (Steve) Bird, and Ron (Pam) Opitz, along with countless family and friends.
Paulina's grandchildren were the light of her life and they always came first. There was nothing they could ever do wrong in her eyes. Love was always in the air and all who knew her loved her. Paulina's character is easily described in the book of Proverbs 31: 10-31. She had a strong Christian faith evidenced by her every action and well-weathered Bible.
In lieu of flowers or gifts, the family asks that you tell someone you love them, show kindness to all, and spread the good news of Jesus Christ.
