Memorial services for Sharon Gail "Honey" Cavener, 87, of Ada are 10:00 a.m. Saturday, October 25, 2025, at the First Methodist Church; Rev. Brian Matthews will officiate.

Mrs. Cavener passed away Friday, October 3, 2025, at her home. She was born January 1, 1938, in Allen to J.I. and Lorena Stewart Jones. She attended Allen Schools, graduating from Allen High School in 1956. She then attended East Central State College, graduating in 1959 with a Teaching Degree.

Sharon moved to Corpus Christi, Texas area to begin her teaching career. Eventually, moved back to Oklahoma and on September 2, 1961, was married to Dr. Donald Ray Cavener, DPM. She was a homemaker, raising her two children, Alan and Billy, along with working as a receptionist, bookkeeper and notary, in Dr. Cavener's office, until his death in 1975. In 1986, she received her master's degree in teaching from East Central University. Mrs. Cavener was hired as a K1 teacher at Glenwood Kindergarten and Elementary, where she would teach until her retirement.

She married Edgar Arthur "Sonny" Vinson in July 1980 and they were later divorced. She was a longtime member of the First Methodist Church and taught the two year old children's Sunday school class for some time. She was an avid bowler and league bowled for many years. Sharon enjoyed spending time with her brother, sisters and family. She loved playing board games when all the family was together, but her real joy was spending time with her grandchildren, taking them to the park and telling them stories.

Survivors include her two sons, Alan Cavener and Billy Cavener both of Ada; sister, Pat Powell of Ada; and three grandchildren, Ryan Cavener, Ashlynn Cavener, and Alex Cavener.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Donald Ray Cavener; her parents; brother, Robert Lee Jones; and sister, Carol Jeanne Somerhalder.
