Pauline Ruth Arnold, age 95, of Highland Village, Texas, passed away Thursday, April 14, 2022, at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital in Flower Mound, Texas. She was born on December 21, 1926, in Cameron, Texas to Belmont and Myrtle (Small) Cluck. Pauline grew up in Cameron and graduated from Yoe High School in 1944.
Upon graduation, she attended Mary Hardin-Baylor College in Belton, Texas. While there she met the love of her life, Otis Neil Arnold. They were married on January 11, 1947, in Lampasas, Texas. Pauline graduated college with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1948. On September 21, 1948, Pauline and Otis welcomed a baby girl, Brenda into their lives. She was an only child.
Pauline began her 37-year teaching career in Texas City, Texas in 1948. While teaching she earned two master's degrees from the university of Houston. One in Elementary education and the other in reading, becoming a State Certified Reading Specialist. Pauline taught 5th and 6th grades and helped open Kohfeldt Elementary in Texas City where she taught 6th grade for many years. She then transitioned to 8th and 9th grade teaching reading in Levi Fry Junior High School.
In 1979, Pauline and Otis moved to Highland Village to be near their daughter, Brenda, and granddaughter, Marisa. Pauline began teaching for the Lewisville ISD at Hedrick Middle School and retired from Marcus High School. While at Marcus High School she was awarded the honor of being named Teacher of the Year for the Lewisville ISD. She also belonged to the Delta Kappa gamma Society for many years.
Pauline was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and her sister, Doris Knappenberger. She is survived by her daughter Brenda Maenza, granddaughter, Marisa Tucker and her husband, Christopher Tucker, brother-in-law, Charles Knappenberger, nephew, Mark Knappenberger, and great nephew, Allen Knappenberger and his wife, Amanda.
Visitation will be held at Mulkey Mason Funeral Home, Monday, April 18, 2022, from 2pm to 3pm with the service following and officiated by pastor Rich Mussler. Pauline will be laid to rest on Tuesday, April 19, 2022, in the Oak Hill Cemetery in Cameron, Texas next to her husband Otis.
