Pauline Theresa Hastie, age 76, of Howell, Michigan, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 9, 2025. She was born on June 12, 1949, to the late T. Gerald and Helen Carey.

On August 10, 1972, Pauline married the love of her life, Michael Hastie. Together they built a life filled with love and joy, raising their two daughters, Anne (Lee) Charles and Katie (Jonathan) Weyant. Pauline especially cherished her role as grandmother to Sophie Charles. She is also survived by her siblings, Dianne (Jack) Hardy, Marilyn Sutton, Kathy (Pat) Spencer, Gerald Carey and her beloved nieces and nephews.

A devoted educator, Pauline taught for over 30 years with Howell Public Schools, primarily as a 6th grade teacher. She touched countless lives with her intelligence, kindness, and dedication to her students.

Pauline had a deep love for nature and found joy in bird watching, gardening, and the peaceful life she and her family created in the country. She was an avid reader, often enjoying several books at once, and a proud alumna of Michigan State University, where she earned her bachelor's degree before completing her master's at Eastern Michigan University. A spirited fan of Michigan State football, she remained a loyal Spartan throughout her life.

Those who knew Pauline will remember her warm and friendly nature, her gift for conversation, and her ability to make everyone she met feel like a friend. She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, teacher, and friend.

Visitation will be held for Pauline from 11-1pm with a service beginning at 1:00pm on Monday, September 15, 2025, at Watkins Brothers Funeral Homes, MacDonald Chapel, 315 N. Michigan Ave., Howell, MI. Pauline will be laid to rest immediately following services at Lakeside Cemetery in Howell, MI. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Pauline's life and legacy.
