On Good Friday April 7th, 2023, our sweet Mimi, Pauline Miller, went to be with her Lord and Savior. Mimi was 85 years young.
Mimi battled cancer bravely for 11 years, but her heart and soul was ready to be in the presence of her King.
Pauline Hopper Miller was born June 26th, 1937, in Hensley Arkansas to Robert and Ollie Hopper.
Pauline's Nickname was Polly. Polly was #7 of 13 children and grew up very poor, never having anything new to wear but hand me downs. Once on the walk to Church, Big Mama told Polly she had to wear shoes to church. Not having any of her own, she quickly grabbed a pair of her brother's shoes. By the time they got to church her feet were sore and blistered, and she promptly took those shoes off and exclaimed, " I ain't wearing them damned shoes! Jesus loves my bare feet". Mimi went through life with a similar attitude.
In high school Polly went to live with her elder sister Donna in Joliet Illinois, where she went to Lockport Township High School. Polly decided then to adopted her given name, Pauline, because it didn't sound so " Hillbilly ". It was there she met and married her sweetheart, David C. Miller. David and Pauline were married February 9th, 1957, a union that lasted 60 years.
David and Pauline moved their family to Lakewood Colorado in 1968 and continued to reside there until their retirement in 1988. Pauline worked and trained under a French born and classically trained Chef, learning her craft as a Sous Chef, and later became a professional caterer.
Upon retirement, Pauline and David moved back to Hot Springs Arkansas, where they enjoyed their "retirement " years. Truth is Pauline never really retired, she continued catering and later took a job as an activity director in an assisted living facility, a job she enjoyed very much. Here in Rangely she worked for CNCC Sodexo where she met many of her close friends today.
Pauline loved and adored her grandchildren and decided to move back to Rangely Colorado in the summer of 2005 to be close to them. She loved her summers with Dominic, Zach, Charlie and Gabe. Mimi found great joy in her role as Phalon's personal chef and in their mischievous shenanigans. On the very day Phalon became an official licensed driver, she and Mimi took a road trip to Vernal Utah. On the way home Phalon was pulled over for speeding. When the officer came the window, Mimi immediately explained that it was her fault her granddaughter was speeding because she had to pee and told her to hurry. No citation was given.
Throughout Pauline's life her Church family was one of great importance. Pauline's heart was in children's ministry.
Pauline was a true servant of God. She selflessly cared for, fed and comforted anyone in need. She generously open her home to anyone who graced her doors, little did they know through her, Christ was at work. Pauline was a Godly witness to many, being a testimony of Gods amazing grace, love and mercy. Many came to know Christ because of her loving kindness.
Pauline is survived by her son Charles R. Miller (sons Dominic, Zach, Charlie and Gabe)
Daughter Suann M. Anderson (husband Josh, daughters Bailey and Phalon)
Preceded in death by her husband David, mother, and father and all her siblings.
A Celebration of Life will be held on April 14th at 10:30 am
