Mrs. Pauline M. (Schaufus) Nutile, of Acton, formerly of Sudbury and Waltham, died Friday, December 27th in Life Care Center of Acton. She was 97.
Pauline was born in Waltham on November 6, 1927, the daughter of the late Arthur Leyson and Mary Alice (Ward) Schaufus. Raised in Waltham she attended Saint Joseph’s Grammar School and Saint Mary’s High School. Before retiring she had worked as the function manager at Sudbury’s Wayside Inn for more than 37 years.
Pauline had many talents and hobbies. She loved her job and it was certainly one she was good at. Organizing and managing the countless events at the Inn took a great deal of patience and attention to detail. Pauline was up for any task big or small and always did so with a smile. Outside of work she enjoyed art and drawing. She was a talented painter and enjoyed knitting as well. She also traveled extensively throughout the United States and abroad.
Pauline was the wife of the late Peter A. Nutile, and the sister of the late William Francis, Frederick, Charles, Daniel, and Arthur Schaufus.
She leaves her children, Peter A. Nutile (formerly married to Sandy Porretta Gamage) of Unity, Maine and Pamela A. Lamport (Edwin "John") of North Billerica; her grandchildren, Dawn Radcliffe (Bruce), Christopher Nutile (Stacey Flynt), Alex Nutile (Shayla Kennedy-Nutile), Justin Lamport (formerly married to Laura Whitman Deabay), and Sandra Lamport (Michael Donahue); her great-grandchildren, Lily, Quinn, Hunter, Cody and Averi; her sister-in-law Joan (Nutile) Dindo, brother-in-law Paul Nutile and his wife Marianne: and many nieces, nephews, and their families.
Family and friends will honor and remember Pauline's life by gathering in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham, for a Morning Wake on Saturday, January 11th from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. followed by her funeral service at 12 noon. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Waltham.
