Pauline Delores Reese, daughter of Lynn S. and Laura Belle (Crago) Ashkettle, was born on July 10, 1933. She was the devoted wife of Darwin Lee Reese and the loving mother of five children. "Polly," as she was known to her friends, was 90 years, 11 months, and 18 days old when she was awakened in the arms of Jesus on June 22, 2024.
She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, and two brothers, Arthur and Conrad. She is survived by her children and their spouses: William Lynn and Hannah Darlene Reese, Richard Lee and Brenda Marie Reese, Sharon Kaye DeVault, Darlene Faye and Stephen Edward Jodon, and Cathy Sue and Ronald Lee Browning. Also living are 12 grandchildren: Sarah Miller, David Reese, Rebekah Corbin, Jeremy Reese, Eric Reese, Brian Reese, Nathan Reese, Stephen DeVault, Jason Jodon, Javonnah Bartee, Breonna Jodon, and Stephen Browning; 30 great grandchildren; and three sisters-in-law: Loretta Ashkettle, Glenna Reese, and Shirley Frantz.
Pauline was a kind, loving person who served in many roles, primarily as a wife, mother, and grandmother. She was a friend and confidante to many. Following her conversion to Christ, she taught Sunday School, lead congregational songs, and occasionally preached in churches where she attended.
She and her husband sacrificed much to allow their daughters to attend the WV Training School, a private Christian school in Point Pleasant, WV. Pauline served as a cook, middle-school teacher, and college instructor at the WV Training School. She graduated, Summa Cum Laude, with a ministerial degree, from Bryan College in Dayton, TN. During her lifetime, she pastored three churches: Allegheny Wesleyan Methodist Church (Albright, WV), Wesleyan Holiness Church (Charleston, WV), and Hallum Lighthouse Mission, (Collier, PA). She was credentialled as an Elder with the Wesleyan Holiness Association.
Pauline's life was a shining light to many. She preached "Jesus" and left a wonderful Christian legacy to her family. She lived a life of positivity, optimism, and humor, and remained faithful to Christ until the end. She will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by all who knew her.
Family and friends will be received at the Carl R. Spear Funeral Home in Brandonville-Bruceton Mills, WV, on Thursday, June 27, 2024, from 11:00 a.m. until the 2:00 p.m. funeral service with her son, Pastor William Reese, officiating. Burial will follow at the Asher Glade Cemetery, in (Asher Glade) Friendsville, MD.

I was one of "Polly´s" roommates at PVH REHAB in Point Pleasant . We became friends & looked out for each other . I´ll miss my friend but I know for a fact that she´s in a much better place . She sure did love her children & grandchildren & would light up the room when they would come to visit or call her . We comforted each other , as friends do . When the LORD calls our family members & friends home , HE leaves us with the gift of precious memories... I can´t take away your pain , but I´m here to listen if you need a listening ear & want to talk . Please know that your Mom will be greatly missed until we see her again . Love , Friendship & Prayers to all of her family & friends that knew her .
