Pauline Spence Smith, also known as “Polly” or “Nolly” peacefully joined the Lord on Wednesday, September 3, 2025, after a long battle with Alzheimer’s Disease. She was showered with love by her husband, Paul, and other family members, who she loved most during her final days.

Pauline was born on June 10, 1947, to Marion and Elizabeth Spence in Crowville, Louisiana. After growing up on a farm in a small country town, Pauline explored the world, visiting five out of the seven continents and three great Wonders of the World. She touched the lives of many people through her years as an educator, missionary, sister, friend, and many other titles that Pauline held as a true woman of Christ. Some who knew Pauline would describe her as quiet or shy, but her family will always remember her as the life of every birthday party, family reunion, or holiday. Regardless of how you knew Pauline, you would agree that she lit up every room she walked into with her warm smile and one-of-a-kind laugh.

Pauline was preceded in death by her beloved “Mama and Daddy,” Marion and Elizabeth Spence; granddaughter, Ashlyn Pyles; brothers, Homer, Derriel, Doyle, E.L., C.L., Truett, Garland, Sidney, and Billy; sisters, Baby June, and Cammie Lee.

Pauline is survived by her loving husband of 55 years of marriage, Paul, as well as her children, Melissa Pyles (Craig) and Dena (son-in-law, Warren) Johnson, along with three grandchildren, Madison (grandson-in-law, Zachariah) Lester, Anna Grace Johnson, and Matthew Johnson, and great-grandchild, Emma Lester. She also leaves behind her brother, Marion, and wife, Susan; sisters, Carrie Ruth, Sandra, and husband, Bill, Betty, and husband, Buddy, Ann, Roxie, and her husband, Carlos.

Honoring Pauline as pallbearers will be Chris Lee, Adam Lee, Roger Spence, Cheney Spence, Dennison Morgan, and Brett Smith. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Adam Cormier and Chris Sullivan.
