Paulo Jose de Chaves Leandres
December 14, 1968 - November 9, 2025
Putnam - Paulo Leandres, 56, of Putnam, Connecticut, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family after a courageous battle with cancer on November 9, 2025.
He was born in Vila do Porto, Santa Maria, Azores, to Manuel Cabral Leandres and the late Maria Cabral Chaves, both of Santa Maria. In 1980, Paulo and his family migrated to Hudson, Massachusetts and later settled in Taunton Massachusetts.
Paulo graduated from Taunton High School in 1987. He was a dedicated labor foreman with S&F Concrete Contractors of Hudson, Massachusetts, where he worked for 26 years, and was a proud member of Laborers Local 560. Paulo was well respected in his profession and valued the many lifelong friendships he made throughout his career.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Lucia Sousa-Leandres; his children, Nathan Leandres and his wife Brittany of Taunton, and Tori Vitikos of Dudley; and his cherished grandchildren, Aiden Leandres and Lily Leandres. He also leaves behind his siblings, Angelina Phelan (Jim) of Bradenton, FL; Elvira Chaves (late Abilio) of Clinton, MA; and Gina Leandres of Hudson, MA; nieces and nephews: Elvita Freeman, Melanie Chaves, Timothy Chaves, Nicholas Leandres, Margarida Phelan, Bianca Bergstrom, Lilliana Bergstrom, grand nieces and nephews: Elise Freeman, Bennett Freeman, Priscilla Freeman, Brayden Leandres, Mayah Leandres, Valerie Leandres, Vivian Leandres. Paulo will also be lovingly remembered by his faithful dog, Nyla.
Paulo had a deep appreciation for life's simple pleasures. He enjoyed fishing, music, building motorized devices and collecting various items. He and had a special fondness for animals and classic cars. His warm spirit, sense of humor, and unique interests left a lasting impression on all who knew him.
Memorial mass will be held on Saturday. November 15, 2025, at 11:00 am at St Joseph's Roman Catholic Church, 18 Main St, North Grosvenordale, CT 06255. Gathering immediately following at The Quarterback Club, 235A Kennedy Drive, Putnam, CT 06260. Burial will be at St. Michael Cemetery in Hudson, MA on Monday November 17, 2025 at 11am.
