Pearl Evelyn Brown, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on October 1, 2025, at the age of 83.
Evelyn was born on September 7, 1942, in Kansas City, Kansas. At the age of 9, she moved with her family to Torrance, California, where she spent her formative years. A gifted athlete, Evelyn played softball, basketball, and tennis while attending South High School, graduating in 1960.
She went on to attend California Baptist College, earning her degree in 1965. During her time there, she worked in the print shop and continued her athletic pursuits, playing softball, basketball, and volleyball. It was during these years that she married the love of her life, Maynard Brown, on June 21, 1962. Together, they shared 63 years of unwavering love and partnership.
Evelyn and Maynard lived in Riverside, Torrance, and Rosemead, California. She dedicated 19 years of her career as a Purchasing Clerk for the Montebello School District before retiring in 2003. Following retirement, they relocated to Powell, Wyoming, where she enjoyed a slower pace of life surrounded by family and the beautiful mountain views.
Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents, Rosemary and Wayne Owings Sr.; her brother, Wayne Owings Jr.; and her son, Dewayne Brown.
She is survived by her devoted husband, Maynard Brown; sons Derek (Rebekah) Brown and Darold (Lisa) Brown; and nine grandchildren: Madison Ezagui (Caleb), Connor Brown, Kaleb Brown, Addison Brown, Mason Brown, Liam Glick, Abigail Brown, Kayson Brown, and Danae Glick. She also leaves behind her great-grandchild, Hunter Ezagui, and many cherished extended family members and friends.
Evelyn will be remembered for her strength, kindness, generosity, and love of family — a woman of faith and resilience who brought warmth to every room she entered.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on October 12, 2025, at 3:00 PM at Victory Baptist Church in Powell, Wyoming. All who knew and loved Evelyn are invited to attend and honor her memory.
