Pearl J. Lundborg, of Amelia Island, FL, died on September 30, 2025 at the Community Hospice Jane and Bill Warner Center of Caring.
Pearl – never has anyone been more aptly named. A rare, precious gem Miss Pearl was.
Born on October 7, 1933 in Warren Ohio to T. Embury Jones and Leah Pettit Jones, Pearl graduated from Withrow high school in 1951 in Cincinnati, Ohio, after which she attended Purdue University, and obtained a degree in home economics in 1955. She married in the same year, and had two children, Anne Elizabeth and David Edward Warner. She made lovely homes for the family in Illinois, Indiana and Connecticut, before settling on the North Shore of Chicago.
After divorce, she met Roger K. Lundborg, or as she called him "My Roger", the love of her life since 1976. Miss Pearl blossomed after that, starting to sing, travel, play tennis, and have a lot of fun. When Roger retired, they came to Amelia Island, and a new life began. They lived very happily together on the island until he passed in 2012.
She loved nothing better than having dinner conversation and laughter with friends at local restaurants serving delightful food and wine. Miss Pearl loved her breakfast too at a local hang out where she had so many friends. Her friends were everything to her.
Miss Pearl was quite the athlete in her day. Influenced by her parents, she took up golf and played regularly. Pearl was active for many years in the tennis community here and when her beloved Roger could no longer participate in rigorous sports, she took up Pétanque with him and made more friends.
Music was a huge part of Pearl's life and from a young age brought her great joy. In high school, she was part of a girls ensemble that sang on the radio and was hired to perform at parties and gatherings. Miss Pearl was one of the original members of the Island Chamber Singers, and former choir member of Long Grove Community Church, First Presbyterian and Memorial United Methodist Churches, Fernandina Beach, and made even more friends.
Pearl leaves behind her children, Anne Warner Tucson, AZ and David Warner Machesney Park IL, and stepchildren, Elizabeth Quiggle Lake Havasu City, Cathy Woods Discovery Cove CA, and Jim Lundborg Phoenix AZ. Grandchildren include; Sam and Mai McCrady, David Jr. and Daniel Warner, Jenna and Taylor Quiggle, Sara Woods, Breanna and Brilynn Lundborg and great-grandchildren, Dominic and Gavin Warner, Roman Czarnecky, Phoenix Yoho-Quiggle, and Sawyer Yoho.
Pearl's memorial service will be on Monday, October 13th at 1:00pm at Memorial United Methodist Church 601 Center St. Fernandina Beach, FL 32034. A reception will immediately follow at the adjacent Maxwell Hall.
