Pearl C. Parisher, age 100, of Camden, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on January 6, 2025, in Currituck House at Moyock, North Carolina, where she had resided since April 2024. She was born on January 19, 1924, in Tyrrell County, North Carolina, to the late Daniel and Ella Curlings Cass. Pearl was the widow of the late James C. Parisher. Pearl was a lifetime member of Geneva Baptist Church and, at her passing, was the oldest living member. She was employed by the Camden County School System for over 30 years and retired as the Food Director for all three schools in 1984.
Pearl is survived by two daughters, Vera Mitchell and husband, Edgar Lee and Clara Sanderlin, all of Camden, North Carolina; and one son, Jimmy Parisher, and wife, Susan, of Newport News, Virginia. She is also survived by eleven grandchildren, twenty-five great-grandchildren, five great-great-grandchildren, and many well-loved nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a son, Elbert Parisher of Lebanon, Tennessee; a son-in-law, Larry Sanderlin of Camden; two sisters, Jean Forehand of Chesapeake, Virginia, and Darcas McCoy of Afindon, Maryland; two brothers, Kelly Cass of South Mills, North Carolina and Tommy Cass of Richton Park, Illinois; and a nephew, Kelly Cass, Jr. of South Mills, North Carolina.
Pearl was an avid reader and enjoyed shopping, cooking, sewing, and crocheting as long as she could. She drove herself to church every Sunday until she had to stop driving at the age of 94 due to a knee injury. She was blessed with a sharp mind and still could name all her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren at the age of 100.
A visitation and catered meal for family and friends will be held on Friday, January 10, 2025, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Sawyer's Creek Baptist Church Fellowship Center, 241 Sawyer's Creek Road, Camden, NC. A service to celebrate Pearl's life will follow in the church's sanctuary at 1:00 p.m., conducted by Pastor Kevin Buzzard and Pearl's grandson-in-law, David Burgess, Jr. A private committal service for family members will be at West Lawn Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, Pearl requested that any memorial donations be made to Sawyer's Creek Baptist Church Brotherhood, 241 Sawyer's Creek Road, Camden, NC 27921.
The family wishes to express heartfelt gratitude to Mrs. Katrena Chamblee and her dedicated staff at Currituck House for the wonderful care and love she received.
