It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Pedro Nelson Bobé, who died peacefully on his birthday, March 16, 2025, at the age of 83. Pedro was born on March 16, 1942, in Puerto Real, Cabo Rojo, Puerto Rico.
Pedro was the beloved husband of Carmen, with whom he shared a lifetime of love and family. He was a devoted father to Nelson, Pedro, and Rosalia, and a cherished father-in-law to Beatrice, William, and Josh. Pedro was a doting grandfather to Nina Simone, Mia Isabella, Joshua Xavier, and Olivia Leah, who brought him endless joy and pride.
At the young age of 16, Pedro left his homeland of Puerto Rico and journeyed to New York City alone in search of a better life. He taught himself English and worked tirelessly from the moment he arrived, building a life for himself and his family with remarkable determination and resilience.
Pedro was a true entrepreneur at heart. He owned and operated several successful businesses over the years, including Bobe's Dry Cleaners on Bushwick Avenue, Bob's Liquor Store on Metropolitan Avenue, as well as a hardware store, a clothing store, and ventures in real estate. Despite not having a formal education, Pedro's sharp business sense and tireless work ethic allowed him to provide a comfortable life for his family and secure a brighter future for his children.
A proud Puerto Rican, Pedro held a deep love for his homeland and traveled back to the island often, instilling that same love and connection to Puerto Rico in his children and grandchildren. He was an avid cigar smoker who enjoyed life's simple pleasures - reading Spanish cowboy novels, watching Westerns, and writing poetry. He also found great joy in spending time at his neighborhood park, watching baseball games with his friends and savoring the community he helped build.
Pedro will be remembered for his unwavering generosity, sharp wit, and kind spirit. He was a man who gave freely of himself, always ready to lend a helping hand or share a word of encouragement. His legacy of strength, hard work, and love will live on through his family and all who were fortunate enough to know him.
Pedro Nelson Bobé's life was a testament to the power of perseverance, love, and family. He will be deeply missed but forever remembered.
Con gran pesar, anunciamos el fallecimiento de Pedro Nelson Bobé, quien murió pacíficamente el día de su cumpleaños, el 16 de marzo de 2025, a la edad de 83 años. Pedro nació el 16 de marzo de 1942 en Puerto Real, Cabo Rojo, Puerto Rico.
Pedro fue el amado esposo de Carmen, con quien compartió una vida llena de amor y familia. Fue un padre devoto para Nelson, Pedro y Rosalia, y un querido suegro para Beatrice, William y Josh. Pedro fue un abuelo cariñoso para Nina Simone, Mia Isabella, Joshua Xavier y Olivia Leah, quienes le brindaron una alegría y un orgullo infinitos.
A la joven edad de 16 años, Pedro dejó su tierra natal de Puerto Rico y viajó solo a la ciudad de Nueva York en busca de una vida mejor. Aprendió inglés por sí mismo y trabajó incansablemente desde el momento en que llegó, construyendo una vida para él y su familia con una determinación y resistencia extraordinarias.
Pedro fue un verdadero emprendedor de corazón. A lo largo de los años, fue dueño y operó varios negocios exitosos, incluyendo Bobe's Dry Cleaners en Bushwick Avenue, Bob's Liquor Store en Metropolitan Avenue, además de una ferretería, una tienda de ropa y varios proyectos en real estate. A pesar de no haber recibido una educación formal, el agudo sentido para los negocios y la incansable ética de trabajo de Pedro le permitieron brindarle a su familia una vida cómoda y asegurar un futuro brillante para sus hijos.
Orgulloso puertorriqueño, Pedro sentía un amor profundo por su tierra natal y viajaba con frecuencia de regreso a la isla, inculcando ese mismo amor y conexión a Puerto Rico en sus hijos y nietos. Era un apasionado fumador de cigarros que disfrutaba de los placeres simples de la vida: leer novelas de vaqueros en español, ver películas del Oeste y escribir poesía. También encontraba gran alegría en pasar tiempo en el parque de su vecindario, viendo juegos de béisbol con sus amigos y disfrutando de la comunidad que ayudó a construir.
Pedro será recordado por su generosidad inquebrantable, su agudo ingenio y su espíritu amable. Fue un hombre que daba de sí mismo libremente, siempre dispuesto a tender una mano amiga o compartir una palabra de aliento. Su legado de fortaleza, trabajo duro y amor vivirá a través de su familia y de todos aquellos que tuvieron la fortuna de conocerlo.
La vida de Pedro Nelson Bobé fue un testimonio del poder de la perseverancia, el amor y la familia. Lo extrañaremos profundamente, pero su recuerdo vivirá para siempre.
