Pedro P. San Diego went peacefully to sleep on September 8, 2024.
He was born on April 26, 1940 to Pedro and Lourdes Paredes San Diego and raised in Quezon City with his six siblings. He graduated with a degree in architecture from the University of Santo Tomas in the Philippines in 1957. He later immigrated to the United States where he would become a citizen.
He fell in love with Ruthie Kasten in Los Angeles. They were married on June 5, 1966. The newlyweds moved to Ruthie's home state of Wisconsin and started their family in 1967. Pedro and Ruthie were married for 52 years until Pedro lost his love to cancer.
Pedro was an architect with a flair for design and pragmatism. He practiced architecture in Wisconsin and Florida. Pedro and Ruthie lived in Florida for a short time but moved back to Wisconsin to be closer to their beloved grandchildren.
Pedro was a bit of a renaissance man. He had a deep curiosity for life. He was a gifted artist, skillful gardener, and fancied himself as a bit of a chef. Eating was one of his favorite pastimes. He was an avid fisherman, hunter, and admirer of wildlife. Not only was he a champion skeet shooter but an artist who was featured in art shows and local newspaper articles.
After Pedro retired from a successful architecture career, one could find him working on his projects – drywalling a room, making lures for fishing season, painting, canning the fruit from his orchard, enjoying a cup of tea with honey or ice cream with the grandkids.
He loved to travel and experience new cultures, food, and people.
He made us laugh hard and often.
He is preceded in death by his wife Ruthie, his parents, Ruthie's parents, sister Josefa San Diego, and brothers Quintin and Ignacio San Diego.
He will be deeply missed by his daughters, Francesca (Jake) Saunders, Anna San Diego and Christina Cass along with the treasures of his life, his five grandchildren: Angel Saunders, Sean (Liz), Irina, Owen and Clayton Cass. Also his sisters, Teresita Silo and Victoria Ortega and brother, Pablito San Diego and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
A celebration of Pedro's life will be held on September 28th, 2024 with visitations from 10:30 am to noon with a service immediately after at Pagenkopf Funeral Home located at 2228 N. Silver Maple Lane, Oconomowoc, WI 53066.
