Peggy Ann Kuester December 30, 1952 – August 12, 2025 Peg Ann Kuester, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, passed away on August 12, 2025, surrounded by her family. Peg was born on December 30, 1952, to Clayton and Doris Tallon, and was raised 12 miles north of Rushville, Nebraska. She graduated from Rushville High School and attended Chadron State College, where she met the love of her life, Thomas Kuester.

Peg and Tom were married in 1975 in Neligh, Nebraska. They celebrated 50 years of marriage in February of this year. In 1982, they moved back to Rushville, where they built a loving home filled with warmth, laughter, and treasured memories. Together, they raised two children, Andrea and Scott, who were the pride and joy of their life.

For 35 years, Peg worked as a secretary in the school system, where her kindness, humor, and steady presence touched the lives of countless students and staff, making the school a place where everyone felt welcome.

Her commitment to her community extended beyond her work; she was a proud and active member of PEO, the 1985 Centennial Committee, and the Cheery Homemakers. She served as a Jazzercise instructor, was a member of the Park Board and Cemetery Board, and gave her time to the Altar Society and Parish Council. Peg’s willingness to volunteer and serve reflected her deep love for her community.

Peg had a zest for life and a gift for making people feel at home. She had a great sense of style- bright colors, sparkles and leopard print were her signature- and she carried it with confidence and joy. She cherished her girls’ nights out, full of laughter and stories, and approached every gathering, large or small, with enthusiasm and warmth. She also loved to travel and shop, always seeking out new places, new treasures and new experiences to enjoy and share.

Peg is survived by her husband, Thomas Kuester; her daughter, Andrea Johnson (Matt); her son, Scott Kuester (Abby); and her granddaughter, Gemma Kuester. She is also survived by her brothers, Mike Tallon and Vic Tallon; her sister, Sally Weldon; her brothers- and sisters-in-law, Bill and Pam Kuester, Steve and Linda Kuester, Dan and Carla Kuester, Rocky and Judy Jones, Melvin and Kate Ahlers, Fred and Mary Melville, and Steve and Joan Wiley; as well as many nieces and nephews who loved her dearly.

A Vigil will be held Thursday, August 21, at 7:00 PM at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Rushville, Nebraska. Funeral services will be Friday, August 22, at 10:00 AM at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, with a luncheon to follow at the Rushville American Legion. The service will also be live-streamed on the Facebook page “Saint Leo-Gordon.”

To honor Peg’s spirit, those attending are encouraged to wear bright colors, sparkles and jewelry.
