Peggy Ann Barnett Barfield, 86, passed away at Neshoba General Hospital in Philadelphia, Mississippi, on Monday, September 30, 2024. Graveside services and interment for Peggy will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, October 2 at Union Ridge Cemetery in Noxapater, Mississippi, with Reverend Greg Thomas officiating.
Peggy was born August 21, 1938, to Jeff and Opal Barnett. She was a member of Union Ridge Baptist Church in Noxapater. For more than 20 years, Peggy worked in management at Dollar General. One of her favorite outings was having her hair washed and styled each week at Linda's Beauty Shop; she also enjoyed shopping, getting out of the house, and traveling with her late husband. Peggy dearly loved her family, friends, and her church family; and she enjoyed preparing and cooking homemade meals and treats during the holidays. She was never one to turn down a hug and was known for her saying, "Come hug my neck!" Peggy was not one to meet a stranger; she loved to "chat" with everyone enjoying the latest gossip like a true Southern belle.
Peggy is survived by her daughter, Patricia "Trish" (Shannon) Reynolds; and daughter-in-law, Macolyn Stanley. One of her greatest joys was being "Nanny" to her grandchildren: Steven (Emily) Stanley; Heather (John) Mozingo; and Travis (Celeste) Stanley; in addition to her great-grandchildren: Braxton, Ryan, Brayden, Kaige, Oakley, and Greyson. Peggy is also survived by her brother, Wayne (Connie) Barnett; sister-in-law, Shirley Barnett; as well as her loving nieces, nephews, other family members, and friends. Peggy is preceded in death by her husband, Charlie Barfield; son, Mike Stanley; granddaughter, Madison; brother, Jerry Barnett; and sister, Betty Majors and brother-in-law Hugh Majors.
Serving as pallbearers are Allen Levins, Shannon Reynolds, Gene Triplett, John Mozingo and Rhyan Stewart.
