Peggy Davis Fowler, 96, passed away peacefully on October 29, 2025, in Weaverville, North Carolina. A beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, Peggy lived a life marked by devotion-to her family, her faith, and her community.
Born on January 7, 1929, to Ed Davis and Ethel Fortner Davis, Peggy grew up with strong family values that would guide her throughout her life. She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Opal Davis Massey; her brother, Carroll Davis; an infant sister, Geraldine Davis; her loving husband, Joe Fowler; her grandson Christopher Fowler; and great-granddaughter Peggy Jane Fowler.
Peggy dedicated over three decades of service to Bowman Funeral Home in
Marshall, North Carolina. Her work there was more than a job-it was a calling. With unwavering compassion and grace, she provided comfort to families during their most difficult times. Her mission was always clear: to offer kind and compassionate care to those navigating loss.
In addition to her work at the funeral home, Peggy found joy in a side role at Shady Side Florist. Surrounded by flowers and beauty, she brought creativity and warmth into every arrangement she touched. Even after retiring from Bowman Funeral Home, Peggy continued to serve others by working in the laundry department at Elderberry Healthcare in Marshall.
Faith played a central role in Peggy's life. A devoted member of Barnard Freewill Baptist Church, she served as the church pianist for many years until health challenges made it difficult for her to continue. Her love for the Lord was evident in all she did-she served as a witness for Him throughout her life and touched countless lives through her quiet strength and steadfast belief. Peggy was the last member that attended the Old Barnard Church.
Peggy's love for her family ran deep. She is survived by her sons: Nicky Fowler (Cathy), Alan "Slab" Fowler (Roxanne), and Randy Fowler; grandchildren: Kylie Franklin (Fredrick Kimp), Nathan Fowler (Sasha), Zachary Fowler, Joey Fowler (Amanda), and Anthony Allen; great-grandchildren: Lee Franklin (Lezlie), Kaitlyn Shuford (Adam), Matthew Franklin, Jessica Rice (TJ), Allison Miller (Matt), Michael Hartz, Kyndall Fowler, Amon Fowler, Kensley Fowler, and Harper Fowler; and great-great-grandchildren Olivia and Orion Rice.
She also leaves behind many cherished friends and wonderful neighbors whom she loved dearly.
Peggy had a deep connection to the land that nurtured generations of her family. She was devoted to preserving the family farm and homeplace-a legacy she worked tirelessly to maintain for future generations. Even into her 90s, Peggy could be found mowing grass or weed-wacking around the property she held so dear. Her love of the outdoors was matched only by the pride she took in keeping everything pristine.
Peggy Davis Fowler leaves behind a legacy of faithfulness, hard work, compassion, and enduring love for family. May her memory bring comfort to all who knew and loved her. A Visitation will be held on November 1, 2025, from 06:00 PM to 08:00 PM at Madison Funeral Home 1750 NC-213,
