Peggy Jo Hawk

Peggy Jo Cooper Hawk passed away peacefully, though unexpectedly, at home surrounded by her family on January 10, 2025, at the age of 79. Peggy lived her life on her own terms, always with her family as the center of her universe. Peggy's parents, Brent Cooper, Sr. and Anetia McQueen Cooper welcomed their eldest daughter on February 12, 1945.
Peggy grew up in Somerset and lived within the boundaries of the city limits with the exception of a brief exile out on Noman's Lane. She loved to go to the movies and keeping up with Hollywood gossip. She was a "serious" homemaker who looked at her role in the home as her career. All was done with her family in mind- spotless home, home cooked meals, always an open door to any of her extended family. When not at home-making it a showplace, she enjoyed late night visits with cousins and friends, whom she treasured dearly.
Peggy wed her soulmate Donald Eugene Hawk, February 19, 1964. Together, they raised their sons Donald Paul and William Joseph Hawk. Later she would welcome her grandchildren Joseph, Allison, Mary Beth, and Brenton. She found joy in all children and welcomed two "bonus" grandchildren, Chris and Tyler Trovillo.
Having a joyful reunion in heaven are her parents, her husband, her baby grandson Quinton Blake Hawk and her beloved son Donnie. These heavenly revelers are joined by her siblings- William "Billy", Paul James, Brent Cooper Jr and Mary Nell Cooper Lanigan.
Left here to mourn her passing are her son, Bill and his wife Jillisa Hawk along with their children Mary Beth and Brenton; her daughter in law Kara and her children Chris, Tyler, Joseph and Allison; her brothers Elvis Eugene Cooper and his wife Shirley Jo Cooper; Bennie Lee Cooper and his wife Dorinda Jean Cooper; along with her nieces and nephews that she cherished and held very close to her heart. They most certainly loved her dearly.
Family and friends may pay their respects at Somerset Undertaking Co. The Visitation will be Tuesday, January 14th, 2025 from 5-9pm, with funeral services on Wednesday, January 15th at 1pm. Burial will be in the Somerset City Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Hospice of Lake Cumberland, which gave Peggy such compassionate care. You may also offer condolences and sign the Online Tribute Book at www.somersetundertaking.com
