Peggy Ilharreguy Obituary

Published by Legacy on Oct. 1, 2025.
Peggy Joyce Ilharreguy June 1931-July 2025
On July 30, 2025 Peggy "PJ" Ilharreguy passed away at the age of 94 in Phoenix, Arizona. Born in Dodge Center, Minnesota to Arnold and Marguerite. Raised on her grandparent's farm, Peggy enjoyed sharing fond memories of her childhood and the farm she loved.
Peggy will be remembered and missed by her children and their spouses; her many grandchildren and great grandchildren; her siblings, relatives and friends.
Peggy would want others to know that she received the free gift of salvation by grace in October 1977. She responded to an alter call - "Come to Me, all who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest." (Matthew 11:28) PJ loved and served her Savior Jesus Christ with joy and was not ashamed of the Gospel. When given the opportunity she shared her God story with anyone who would listen. She had a heart for women who felt rejected and abandoned. She went through training to help women who were abused. Peggy was a woman of prayer and well into her old age could be found kneeling at the side of her bed praying for her family, friends and others. She was a woman of faith.
From a very young woman she lived a colorful and adventurous life which caused her to move often making friends along the way. Though she was shy you wouldn't know it, as she loved to smile and chat with strangers. She served on the greeters ministry team wherever she was. Peggy loved her country as well, and counted it a privilege to serve her country honorably as a WAC (The Women's Army Corps) before getting married and starting a family. In several writings that PJ left behind, she wrote she had lived a full life and gave all credit to her Lord and Savior.
A private family celebration of life will take place later this year.
