Peggy Ann Johnson was called to her Heavenly Home on March 6, 2025, at the age of 79. She was born and raised in Hampton, VA, the second eldest of eight children. In 1967, she married C. Stanley Johnson Sr. and together, they raised three sons, Michael, Kevin, and Charles, in Sandy Spring, MD.
Peggy was a long-serving civil worker, having spent 20 years with the Montgomery County Police Department's Records Unit and 22 years with Montgomery County Department of Permitting Services. In retirement, Peggy enjoyed creating personalized homemade cards for friends and family. Whether it was a birthday, anniversary, or a get-well card, 2 items were always included without fail: a personal hand-written note inside and the words, "Made with love," on the back.
Peggy held many roles to those who loved her- wife, mother, sister, aunt, friend, but her favorite role was that of Nana to her four grandchildren: Fernando, Robert, Sofia, and Micah. Peggy absolutely adored her grandbabies! At one time or another, each grandchild was sung a not-so-pitch-perfect rendition of This Little Light of Mine. She was known to carry a small "brag book" full of photos of the grandkids until she learned to use a smartphone and could forward the pictures to her siblings and friends. Every now and then we'd receive a panicked phone call from her saying she must have pushed the wrong button and accidentally deleted a picture. The sigh of relief she exhaled when her phone would chime with the photo reattached.
Peggy is survived by her devoted husband of fifty-eight years, C. Stanley Johnson Sr., her sons Michael W. Johnson (Dionne), Charles S. Johnson Jr. (Rebeca), her grandchildren, Fernando T. Johnson, Robert C. Johnson, Sofia I. Johnson, Micah W. Johnson, Diego L. Anderson, Mateo A. Anderson, her siblings, George N. Taylor Jr. (Fern), Joan Burwell (Leroy), Juanita Taylor, Curtis Taylor (Amy), Timothy S. Taylor (Daiane), goddaughter, Lia K. Bailey, and a host of family and friends.

Peggy was a dear friend and I will miss her calling me "Rob" and making her apple dumplings. Rest in peace my friend.

Peggy and I met on December 5, 1994. That day we became co-workers. For 22 years she convinced me that Angels do walk among us. God Bless you my friend.

My heartfelt condolences to Mr. Charles Johnson and the entire Family. Peggy was a co-worker at Montgomery County Dept of Permitting Services, I called her "mama Peggy as she had "adopted" me as her daughter. I learned so much from her about Well & Septic. She had a Big heart to help all those that came in contact with her. Just as she was beautiful on the outside, so she was on the inside. She will truly be missed, but family know that to be absent from this Earthly world is to be Present with the Lord, so Hold on to Gods Unchanging Hands and remember, Nehemiah 8:10 says, The JOY of the Lord is your STRENGTH

In my Prayers,
Mrs. Esther M. Cherry
