The loss of a loved one is a heart- wrenching experience. We, the management (Eddie & Jackie Nelson) and the support staff of Nelson's Funeral Home sadly announce the passing of Mrs. Peggy Ann Mattox 65, of Elgin, South Carolina.
Mrs. Peggy Ann Reynolds Mattox was born in Columbia, South Carolina on December 3, 1958 to the late Mabel Ann Williams and David Reynolds. She departed this earthly life on Thursday, January 18, 2024 at MUSC Health Hospital Downtown in Columbia, South Carolina.
Peggy was gifted with a green thumb, and she loved gardening, all animals, and traveling with her husband James. She was also a phenomenal cook.
She is survived by her husband of 40 years, James David Mattox of Elgin, South Carolina; one brother, Donald Lavern Reynolds of Lugoff, South Carolina; one sister, Nancy Reynolds Blakely of Lugoff, South Carolina; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends who will miss her dearly.
In addition to her parents, Peggy was preceded in death by one son, James David Mattox, II and one brother, Paul Stephen Reynolds.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Fairfield County Animal Control and Adoption Center, PO Box 60, Winnsboro, SC 29180.
A graveside memorial service will be held Friday, January 26, 2024, 12:00 noon at Aimwell Presbyterian Church Cemetery, 673 North Coleman Street, Ridgeway, South Carolina.

In case of inclement weather, the memorial service will be held at Nelson's Funeral Home Chapel.
