Reba Maxine (Stephens) Mattox, age 89, of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, went to her heavenly home on Thursday June 12, 2025 in Bixby Oklahoma. She was born on November 24, 1935, in Colcord Oklahoma, to her parents Owen Elzie Stephens and Bessie Elizabeth Allen. She was the fifth-born of eight children. Maxine attended high school in Jay Oklahoma and graduated in 1953. She married and lived in Tulsa, Oklahoma the next few years where she was a loving, nurturing mom to four children, losing her second-born to crib death. The family moved back to Jay in 1966, purchased and operated the Home Café, for five years. Maxine subsequently worked for Woods Grocery, Jay LP Gas and then relocated to Fort Smith, Arkansas where she was a line manager for Whirlpool and Rheem manufacturing. Several years later, she moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma and, having always enjoyed the food service business, acquired the Rex Chicken & Daylight Donut Shop in downtown Tulsa, ran it for 25 years and retired at age 64. She married her late husband Wallace Eugene Mattox in October 1985, bought a home in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma and lived there until his passing in 2017. Maxine was a hard worker and always ready to help anyway she could. She lived her life with prayer and service to many, demonstrating love through many acts of kindness. She inspired all who knew her with her work ethic, grace, and steadfast faith. Her wisdom, guidance and capacity for loving was treasured by her family. Her great faith, unwavering love and service to her God will forever be engrained in her family and friends. Maxine loved to travel, spoil her grandkids and spend time with friends and family. She was an active member of the First Baptist Church in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. She was a great example with her faith in Jesus and love for God. Maxine was preceded in death by her parents, Owen and Bessie Stephens; her two sons Kenneth Don Holt and Darrel Leon Holt; her siblings, Edna (Grindle) Fox, Elzie Stephens, Evelyn Bernard, Norma Loftis and Freda Stephens. She is survived by two daughters, Marlene Flaherty of Bixby, Oklahoma and Rita (Reece) St. Clair and husband Stephen of Gravette, Arkansas; two siblings, Ellis Stephens of Bartlesville, Oklahoma and Imogene Schmidt of Tulsa, Oklahoma; six grandchildren, Brandon Reece and wife Amanda of Grove Oklahoma, Curtis Holt and wife Kelly of Rogers, Arkansas, Shawnda Benge and husband Jerry of
Jay, Oklahoma, Josh Holt of Bedford, Texas, Brian Reece and wife Brittany of Grove, Oklahoma and Kevin Reece and wife Sheena of Vinita, Oklahoma; seventeen great grandchildren; seven great-great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Maxine's Celebration of Life Family Visitation to greet friends will be held on Monday, June 23, 2025 from 1:00-2:00pm at Lawson's Funeral Homes & Cremation Services Chapel, 311 W. Gray St.,
