Peggy Moore Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Carroll-Lewellen Funeral & Cremation Services - Longmont on Feb. 5, 2026.
Peggy L. Moore, of Longmont, Colorado, formerly of Hillsboro, Oregon, passed away on Friday, January 23, 2026 at the age of 93.

Peggy met her first husband, George DeLand, on an Air Force Base in New Mexico. He was frequently transferred to different locations which resulted in most of her 5 children being born in different states! When he was stationed in Tacoma, Washington, Peggy began her railroad career with the Milwaukee Railroad and eventually retired from the Burlington Northern Railroad in Portland, Oregon.

After her retirement, Peggy and her second husband, Barney Moore, traveled extensively. Peggy's travel adventures took her to the Cayman Islands, Amsterdam, Germany, Canada, England, Australia, a train ride through Mexico and another through the Canaian Rockies, an Alaskan cruise, and a cruise through the Panama Canal. She collected thimbles on her various adventures and was always ready to tell the story behind the thimble

Peggy's last travel adventure was her move from Oregon to Colorado to be closer to her daughters, where she continued her adventures with friends and family around Colorado.

Peggy was known for her quick wit, dry (sometimes snarky) sense of humor, and her passion for a good cup of coffee at any time of the day. She was a voracious reader, frequently reading 2 or 3 novels a week. She was also an accomplished quilter; she loving created many quilts of various sizes for friends and family. Peggy and her husband, Barney Moore, were both active in the Seattle Seafair Pirates and in the Ocean Shores Pirates.

As a cancer survivor, Peggy always looked forward to participating in the annual C.A.T (Cancer Awareness Treatment) 5k walk.

Peggy was preceded in death by her parents, Ruby and Frank Locke Sr., her second husband, Barney Moore, her first husband, George DeLand, her brother, Frank Locke, and her youngest child, Barbara DeLand.

Peggy is survived by her children JeanMarie (Lloyd Peirce), Michael (Dana), James (Julie), Trish (Cynthia, partner), her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
